A4 Avant

I appreciate this is the C5 RS6 forum - but I suspect many of you have a daily driver audi.

I need a new kiddie wagon for the Mrs, the old Saab 9-5 Aero Hot is great (It's an auto, but can still pull a WS in the dry without even standing on the brakes), but frankly, it's getting a bit old . Plus she does the most miles of us, so something returning better than 23mpg average would be good.

On that note, what are the A4 avants like these days? I imagine we'd be looking 2.0 diesels on the B8 platform. Are there any massive gotcha's I should be aware of - I might have rebuild the RS6, but I'm not up for that on the Mrs car.

Two DD, a B5 A4 and a C5 allroad. Both have been absolutely great but I suspect that this is far from the solution that Mrs is anticipating. I've seen a great many issues brought up about later model Audi, some of which are genuine and others just having a moan. I've stayed clear more because they just get more complex with newer models. I've found the sweet spot to be the early 2000 models.

Reliability wise, I'd be tempted by a Japanese or Korean model. Mrs has had a couple over the years and they have been bullet proof.
