R8 Coolant Cap

Post by Mɐʇʇ » Tue Dec 10, 2019 9:25 am

Shopp's favourite addon - the R8 Coolant Cap - part no. 420121321
But at 80 quid or so for a genuine one - kinda makes your eyes water.

So go on then - who's actually got one?
And, does it fit the right way round?

It does on LHD cars, but needs adapting on RHD cars. There was a discussion about it fairly recently. The cap can be modified to stop at whatever position you want.

I have one fitted, also got the oil filler cap but you can’t really spot it under the carbon cover.

Mine sits about 70 degrees out but doesn’t bother me much.

I had one on my B7 along with the oil cap and I also modified the power steering cap to fit.
On my C7 I went for a Porsche coolant cap instead.

Is it the same fitment? Looks smart and is 1/3 of the price.

Yes it was the same size as B7 and C7 so I imagine the C5 is the same. It didnt quite have the final click when you fully tightened it but I had it on for probably 2 years without any issues.

I don't recall having to modify it to fit on the right way round on C7 like I did on the B7. I could be losing my marbles though. Image

Looks just as good as the R8 one and much cheaper. Good shout.

I'm a bit tempted by the racingline billet ones.

I've settled on the JCaps versions. Billet covers but you can keep the factory cap fresh and just replace the cover without breaking the bank. Versions available for all except the round cap as far as I can see.

I don't reckon a bentley one will fit... :biggrin3:

Oh - and you remind me - I read that an oil change on a veyron is 20K! Pounds, not miles.
You wouldn't want to spend your very last couple of million on one.
