Mentioned earlier that I couldn't get the KONI solution for the C5 RS6 so I ordered a set of Bilsteins. Happy days and an early Christmas, they arrived not long ago. Unpacked and a nice setup by the looks of it.
I do have Bilsteins on the RS4 so this wasn't scraping the bottom of the barrel but I was open to trying the recommended solution. Will get them fitted around everything else that's happening and report back.

I prefer Bilstein over Koni for street driving. Are those B6 or B8's?

Re: Suspended
They're B8. I've had good experiences with the RS4 equivalent B8's so no hesitation in using them. Getting lower spring plates was a bonus. You had to reuse the RS4 front lowers.

I rode those b8 on my S3 with eibach springs. Very sporty and nice ride. You mind sharing the references of the b8's for the rs6?

Re: Suspended
That's what we're here for. They are specified for the C5 S6 so weight wise, meets the criteria. They are designed to upgrade the S6 suspension and drop it approx 10mm. I'm using the OE springs but on the RS4 I used Eibach springs and it was a good outcome. Felt like new OE suspension and was at standard RS4 ride height. I'm expecting the same outcome here. Those part numbers matched those on the damper body so they should come up local to you. There are occasions where for some reason known only to god our distributor uses different part numbers locally.

Re: Suspended
That's why I was asking you about the part numbers. I know they don't make them specifically for the RS6 probably because of the difference in weight with the S6. But maybe you knew something I didn'tIchBautAuto wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 11:21 amThat's what we're here for. They are specified for the C5 S6 so weight wise, meets the criteria. I have them on my S6 with H&R Sport springs and it handles really good. I may try them on the RS6 but for now it comes with H&R coilovers.

Re: Suspended
330lbs as per the documents I have here. I guess they also take into account when the car is fully loaded with passengers and all.Weiß-sechs wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 3:24 pmWouldn't have thought there was much of a weight difference. Couple of turbos? & IC's obvs.
Re: Suspended
But that's the spring's job so I don't get this part.Weiß-sechs wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 5:30 pm"They are designed to upgrade the S6 suspension and drop it approx 10mm."
Never mind I get it now. He got them with lower spring plates

Re: Suspended
The official AUDI book in front of me says the total weight of the RS6 sedan is 1840 and the Avant 1880 Kg.
The S6 weighs 1790 - 1815 Kg according to what I can find. Assuming that 1790 is the sedan, like for like, it seems reasonable with two turbos and manifolding, intercoolers, extra radiators and coolant weight, bigger battery easily equals 50 KG. Have to say though that for the S6, getting a definitive figure has been more difficult than you might expect.

Re: Suspended
Same for basically all damper manufacturers, the DSG spec means they aren't a "direct" replacement on the RS6. The spring takes the weight, and the uprated damping "should " give an OE feel on the '6.
I know Bilstein markets the coil overs as for the RS6 but the PN of the damper unit is common to many AUDI, only the springs change.

Re: Suspended
Finally got around to the damper swap. Interestingly, the spring preload on the OE dampers was very low, although it does become clearer when you see that the Bilstein dampers are 20mm shorter overall.
Anyway, for the moment done with new top arms. Added a set of Michelin PS4s to try them out.
The spring perch is 5mm higher so I'd imagine the finished product will sit a fraction higher than standard.
Does anyone know for sure which is the correct bump stop? The one that came off was knackered and was 8D0 412 131E.
The US Audi site has a part number search and it says that number is for the B5 sports suspension and is incorrect for the RS6. The aftermarket shops list just about every part number option as suitable, highly unreliable. I would normally have taken the fitted part to be correct but not so confident on this.Anyway, for the moment done with new top arms. Added a set of Michelin PS4s to try them out.
