Re: FIS Control
I've already pulled the trigger on mine.
It was on sale in the UK and €35 cheaper than in Germany.
My display is fine for now so I'll still with that.
The FIS wouldn't help with pixel issues.
When I've installed it I'll see what I can do in terms of setting it up.
If I just get an RS6 splash screen and boost graphic I'll be happy. I always turn my display off when I'm driving because most of what it's telling me doesn't appear true.
I'll roll with the boost graphic all the time.
I'll also see about getting it to display the current gear as in the C6.
I'm due an update of a few things on the forum as I've changed a fair bit in the last two years.

Re: FIS Control
now I'm unemployed i found the time to mess around with the FIS unit.
getting it to work was not as simple as appears. In the end Stefan from the FIS-Control forum was really helpful +there are full instructions. mine wasn't doing as expected.
one thing to note is that although in theory you can access FIS Menu in Park & Neutral, the warnng about brake when changing gear ovverides it. so you need to be in drive with the ignition on to access the menu and confim the configuration of FIS-Control and Cluster has worked. in the end it did.
i got my MS Paint skills out last night. i made the RS6, updated the gecko and the quattro now i get this when i start the car. like a PC game circa 1988. (I can share the dat file if anyone ever wants it)

Re: FIS Control
between the FIS data need, realising it wouldn't have been that hard to install the hardware, the garage not getting the FIS to work, and the dash scuff, I'll buy myself a Vagcom and do what work I can myself.
I'm kicking myself now, with the never ending DIY flat reno I didn't have the headspace for it. I didn't have a laptop. Now I will.
Anyway
I had a get a laptop to find a job...
Until I get a job and money the car bits will have to wait.
Can anyone tell me the value location for the MAP? Reading around I see the group is 115. Trial and error got me to atmospheric pressure.
I believe the FIS will subtract Atmospheric from MAP to give me Boost.
I now have a steady atmospheric pressure reading....

Re: FIS Control
The RS6 doesn't have a MAP sensor. It has a boost pressure sensor. The 2 terms are sometimes used interchangeably, incorrectly.
The only information about the pressure in the manifold comes from the boost pressure sensor. The ECU has a built-in atmospheric pressure sensor and it uses this to adjust the mixture for altitude.
The boost pressure is available in lots of groups. 115 is fine, position 4.
The atmospheric pressure is available in group 113, position 4.

Re: FIS Control
You'd subtract the atmospheric from the boost pressure to get the amount of boost.

Re: FIS Control
interestingly i can access the ecu data through the FIS.
getting somewhere. i need to add the upper/lower limits for the bar graph.
i guess these would be specific to the tune and would have been logged.
i'll ask JD Engineering what they did when they set it up. and snake:
is there a mapping table somewhere online that would tell me what these values are for?getting somewhere. i need to add the upper/lower limits for the bar graph.

Re: FIS Control
Log your requested boost in group 114 when you go WOT and you will see what the max requested boost is.
