Wiring diagram for Bose amp - PO hacked!

Post by E42 » Tue Aug 20, 2019 8:50 pm

Hi, we’re fitting a Pioneer head unit and discovered when the RNS-D was removed that one of the POs has hacked the wiring about and removed the multi pin plug that connects to the amp and possibly other things too. So, we have a number of wires, some not even insulated, without knowing which to connect to the plug in the new harness adapter.

Can anyone help with a wiring diagram to ID which wire is which? I guess I also need a replacement connector to mate up to the new plug in the adapter harness?

Thanks,

Dom

Why on earth can people not just purchase an adapter - not only are they inexpensive, but make life so much easier.

Hi, as I mentioned in the post we have the harness and adapter, there’s nothing to plug it in to, just a number of wires of various colours

Pretty sure he was referring to the DPO.

Is your intention to put the wiring back to standard? Or to wire to a plug specific to the new head unit?

Thanks for your help with this. I’d aim to refit an oe spec plug to the loose wires, as per original spec then fit the new plug in the adapter kit to this?

Sounds like a good plan. That's what I would do.

You can start by ordering the housings and pins (or repair wires if you don't have the crimping tools). What is your comfort level with wiring repairs?

Don't use chocolate blocks or Halfrauds type tube crimp connectors. Best thing is to solder and use heat shrink insulation.

My comfort level is slightly above zero, but luckily the guy fitting the unit for me is very good, he was shocked at the state of the ‘modified’ loom! As you suggest, if you could help with an ID for the colours for the loose wires I can order the bits and we should be in business? Thanks for the pdf but I couldn’t read the diagram in your earlier reply?

Try reading it again. It's just an image file. It's the part numbers you need.
