Condensation in headlight
Condensation in headlight
Hi,
One of my headlights has condensation in it. Is it possible to split the light, clean and reseal it ?.

Re: Condensation in headlight
It's technically possible, but if water's getting in, then you need to find out where otherwise it'll just happen again.
My M3 rear light started getting condensation in and it turned out one of the plastic welds had split microscopically. Sealed it up, dried it out and it's been fine since.

Re: Condensation in headlight
Cheers. Is it a bumper off job to get the headlight out ?
Re: Condensation in headlight
It is possible too split then as Shop said , but they are a nightmare, check the seals on the bulb cover first though . Oh and yeah it's a bumper off job , you cant get the ballast packs past the bumper tim

On a sunny hot day, next week, heatwave coming.
Open the round flap which provides access to your DRL and point a hair dryer on low and leave it until the condensation has gone.
Worked for me on my new headlights.

Re: Condensation in headlight
I used the hairdryer trick and also kept high beam on with engine running for 20 mins and it all dried up. Not been an issue since
Re: Condensation in headlight
Looks like this may have been the easiest fix I am likely to have on the RS6. Looked into the engine bay an found one of the clips holding the cover on was loose. Clipped it back on an dried headlight out so fingers crossed thats it sorted.

Re: Condensation in headlight
You do not have to remove the bumper to remove the headlights. I had mine out at the weekend and it took me 5 minutes to remove them. Once loose, it is possible to manoeuvre them out with the ballast attached

Re: Condensation in headlight
Yes you do. there is one screw underneath the headlight - Can't get to it unless bumper is off.
Actually done that today myself. Was actually able to do it with only one side of the bumper off(detached) managed to get to that screw on the other side with a flexi screwdriver
