I don't wish to be pedantic, or to usurp Bam's place, but they wouldn't be a f**ker if they weren't banging would they?? :bash:

Yeah checked springs, has 2 new lower engine mounts so I'm wondering if it could be a failed gearbox mount as sometimes if feels quite central.im gonna double check everything tomorrow as ran out of time today.its just got me stumped so far as it's so loud I'd expected to find something obviously wrong.it does it both sides and really feels like a shocked gonna come through the body.

Check the subframe bolts. They are stretch bolts and can loosen if they've been removed and refitted. Mine weren't tight last year and I had a strange creak when moving slowly on uneven ground. They weren't mega loose, just half a turn put then back to normal before I replaced them.

There not a brand I'd come accross before there PB coilovers.ive now started to notice some vibration through the steering wheel aswell.ive upped the preload and stiffened the shocks and it's better but still feels like bottoming out on hard bump.gonna check everything again for play and weak bushes on Sunday.its just deiving me mad as I cant enjoy driving it.

Nobby I did check the sub frame bolts and they were tight but nipped them up with a bar to be sure but no change.interestingly the front end was off and engine out only 500 miles ago before I bought it so I'm wondering if its linked.also had n/s front upper carrier and arms 1000miles ago

Unit20 used to have (many years ago) some metal bushes for the pedal box, MRC use cable ties.

Ah I see.ive took the preload down on the front shocks and put them on hard but still on bumpy country roads get a bottoming out feel.checked everything underneath and the springs have witness Mark's from binding .gonna lower the back suspension slightly as it is now about 5mm Lowe at the front which should shift the weight a little the test again but I think my problem is the front springs are too weak.apparently there 12kg rated but the supplier PB can offer 13kg or 15kg so thinking with a stronger spring it may solve my issues just unsure weather to go 13 or 15kg or mabye 12kg is fine mine have just gone slightly weak.anyone have any thoughts?thanks

^^^^This, probably. PB stands for Phat Boy  , manufactured in Taiwan if memory serves. They do brake upgrades too, had a nightmare with them supplying very poor fitting 4 pots and discs for my urS6; ended up taking the calipers to a machine Shop so I could fit them. Avoid.

Hi. I have the same problem. On very rough roads it sounds like a machine gun going off and the feel through the steering wheel is awful.
Just replaced all upper and lower suspension arms. Still have the fault.
