New tyres

Post by Matt58 » Wed Jun 12, 2019 9:27 pm

Going to need four new tyres for my RS6 C5, as MOT looming, thinking of purchasing the Michelin pilot sport 4S 255/35/19 are these tyres ok to fit in regards to old knobbly, what's the correct pressures to run (avant) and what are these tyres like in regards to rim protection. Apologies if this has already been covered, but I couldn't find relevant info, and I didn't want to shell out big money without seeking advice from forum members, any information would be appreciated.

Fuel cap Sticker states 40 psi all round for 19 tyres partially loaded.

I run ps4s on mine, no issues at all. I run them at 42 all round.

Check out the "Audi RS6 Spec and FAQ Threads" linky at the top. It has all the info on tyres etc.

You should be fine, but I'd get rid of Ol Knobbly anyway- the trouble is that you can't see the damage until its done.

Point taken, I'll get the grinder out before I make a purchase. Anybody know what the rim protection is like with these tyres? Are most people running at 40 or 42psi?

Rim protection is/was fine. I think I ran 38psi (cold) for comfort!

Oh good, I think these are the tyres im going to go for, although still a bit unsure on tyre pressures as some people are saying 42psi some 40psi and others 38psi, so if I don't hear any different I'll prob run at 40psi as usually I'm the only one in the car, although I am 100kilos ish. Thanks for all the replies, really appreciate it.

It’ll tell you Audi recommended pressures on the inside of your fuel cap, if you don’t have the Sticker anymore for whatever reason I’ll grt a pic of mine and post it up.

3 bar on the PS4S. Best tyre ever invented.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

Just had 4 Michelin PS4,S fitted. Great tyres Michelin had a offer on. On 4 tyres they gave me back £100:00.
Worth every penny.
