A low mileage project for someone?

Post by Ben_r1 » Mon Jun 03, 2019 4:07 pm

Ok so the sellers spelling doesn’t suggest honest and enthusiastic owner, neither does the fact he states it was purchased, driven home and then forgotten about...

But when I was looking for one I wanted a red, gave up in the end they certainly seem to be a rarer colour. It’s been seriously tacked up by someone with little to no taste but at 92k miles and only £6000 is there potential for a nice example here?

Pretty sure that was up for sale not that long ago? Also was up for sale not long after I got mine 2 ish years ago and it had a maxton spitter on the front and was really well looked after(if a bit tacky to look at) was up for £9.5k then and the gearbox has never been done.makes me think there’s problems with it at that price and you can’t drive it to check

Even if it did need a gearbox for 6k plus rebuild you’ve still got a cheap example!

Gone now anyway-now we wait for a trader to clean it up and stick it up for £10k

I was tempted by this but bottled it at the last minute.

Kept thinking it could be a cheap RS6 in the colour I wanted with a new gearbox for £7k. But the mileage put me off in the end - I just knew both turbos would blow or the engine would die leaving me screwed.

Would rather spend £10k on something half decent than chance £7k on a project. Even then I guess it's pot luck!

For me personally a tow bar is a huge red flag. I’m not surprised the box is knackered if it’s been pulling something for miles on end the engine and turbos must surely be tired too.

The RS6 isn’t homologated for use of a tow bar anyway. In theory it could invalidate your insurance.

Factoid. Here in NZ you could order one with a two bar directly from Audi NZ.

I suspect its just an A6 towbar (I have the part number somewhere).
