Exhaust blow
Not had much time with the RS but recently when starting from cold, and wanting to load the ultra modern 6 disc changer in the boot, I was hovering around the passenger side to access the glove box and noticed what sounded like a bit of an exhaust blow from the area, never heard from drivers side and only audible from cold start for a couple mins really, is there a common issue here and should I prepare to lube up and bend over???
Or is it a case of getting under and having a nose about really?

Always use lube!! I didn’t before I started this engine pull and now I’m going though a tube of cream to keep the pain at bay....Foxmeister wrote:Not had much time with the RS but recently when starting from cold, and wanting to load the ultra modern 6 disc changer in the boot, I was hovering around the passenger side to access the glove box and noticed what sounded like a bit of an exhaust blow from the area, never heard from drivers side and only audible from cold start for a couple mins really, is there a common issue here and should I prepare to lube up and bend over???

Re: Exhaust blow
Could just be the SAI doing its thing. Sounds like a blowing exhaust for a while.

Re: Exhaust blow
Quite possibly. Alternatively the sleeves and jubilee clamps between the down pipes and the exhaust might need a little tweak. I had the same issue on mine some time back and just needed to readjust them and used a little firegum too.

Cracked manifolds happen! Here’s hoping it’s not that
Re: Exhaust blow
You'd hear (and smell) that with the bonnet open. I had exact symptoms the OP noted, sound cam from under the car in the vicinity of the front footwells nad it was just the joint.

Re: Exhaust blow
Really? Interesting and would explain why I've never noticed it before, hopefully it's nothing serious then
This would be obvious if under the bonnet then, might try a cold start next time with it open to investigate

Hoping it's something this simple Matt, as a Milltek will no doubt find it's way on there soon anyway then it's a case of 2 birds one stone
Cars done 87K so hoping it's not manifolds gone, that would be a proper kick in the balls
