I’d always go for a forum car if possible.
That's the dream. I know at my budget it'll always need bits and bobs doing, I'm quite handy with a spanner and will have a go at any mechanical repairs as long as I have the tools and basic knowledge.

Your car is what I'm looking for.

I know Greg who is selling the RS6 you are looking at.

He’s a genuine seller, he purchased the RS6 not long ago and it has been perfect for him however he’s just decided that he wants a newer/modern car such as a later model S6 or a S8 V10.
I'm not fussed about the number of owners as such but get a bit worried when someones only owned the car a short period of time. Of course there might be a genuine reason like the one you mention.

I can't really say anything as I struggle to keep a car for 12 months as I get bored quick!

I'd pay a bit more and get a forum car - gearbox and DRC issues on these cars will far outweigh any initial purchase savings.

From seeing other people’s experience, a forum car isn’t always the gem people make out they are, buy on condition and history is all you need, if anything, forum cars can end up with forum car tax.

Hmm pros and cons for a forum car then. I never considered the 'forum car tax' aspect but can understand it. I guess any car can go bang regardless of status.

The thing about a forum car is to read the detail of the car. Don't just assume it's gonna be a good one, but use the evidence in front of you to decide rather than assume.

Good tip, I've never actually bought a forum car. Always gone on the usual sites.

The grey RS6 made £5200 at auction and didn't meet the reserve - crazy!

How do us guys that fix our own car stand when it comes to history? My car has been to Grizz's a couple of times and MRC for a health check and mapping, apart from that I do everything myself. I obviously have receipts for £1000's in parts but all done by myself. I'm not a weekend warrior but fully qualified and been in the trade for 30 years.

I just keep all the invoices in the history and explain the car in such a way that it’s obvious you know what your doing.

Never had a buyer put off by that in the past

I always buy a car with FSH but do my own servicing and any other jobs I can do. Anything I can't have a go at goes to the garage. I only tend to keep cars for an average of 9 months so in my case it probably doesn't affect anything but may influence a person's decision if there is a gap of say 5 years inbetween stamps. Receipts for work completed would keep me happy though. Guess everyone's different in how they look through a cars history.

A full service history to me is stamped either every year or between intervals from new. I've viewed cars with so called FSH's to find gaps of multiple years when it switched to a long life service schedule for whatever reason or it was just never serviced but the current owner had it stamped recently and thought that kept it up.
