Gearbox fault codes
Hi looking for some advise regarding fault codes from my gearbox, any help advise from anyone who has had the same issue would be greatly appreciated.
Fault codes coming up: 18243 - Pressure Control Valve 5 (N233) short to plus P1835
Could this be the wiring harness, I have read that due to it being located within the gearbox oil that it can go brittle due to the heat? Has anyone experienced this and did replacing the harness make a difference? Only other thing I can think of is it a faulty solenoid, I believe you have to change the whole unit as I believe you can't replace individual solenoids?
Any help would be greatly appreciated before we go in and have a look.

Re: Gearbox fault codes
When you get this fault does the PRNDS display go weird, I'm sure I've had the same fault code. I seem to remember by going through all the gears stationary and re starting everything went back to normal.

Re: Gearbox fault codes
It’ll be either the harness, the solenoid or the TCU.

Re: Gearbox fault codes
When first starting the engine PRNDS all lit up, changed F125 switch in case this was the fault but made no difference. However, if I drive for a short distance, put into neutral and stop start engine PRNDS selector returns to normal. If you drive for a decent distance the you can stop and start engine after a short stop all works correctly but if you stop for a while then back to PRNDS all lit up. It might be a dodgy connection somewhere (TCU, Wiring loom, solenoid) but not sure how that would work if after driving for a bit the fault corrects itself by stopping and starting the engine?
Re: Gearbox fault codes
Also worth checking the health of the 12v battery as well. A duff one can cause all sorts of random behaviour.
Re: Gearbox fault codes
There was a case a while ago of someone who had this fault or a similar one when they put the car into gear too soon after starting. Can’t remember what the outcome was though.
