ABS sensor fault

Post by ahoooga » Thu Apr 18, 2019 7:55 pm

I've had the abs light come occasionally recently, no set pattern to it and when it will come on. Turn ignition off and back on and it stays off for a day or two.
Did a scan with VCDS and got
00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47)
30-10 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent

I'll put a new one in to see if that cures the issue, however, Stealers want £188 +vat !

Looking for recommendation where to buy from or does another VAG car's fit ours ?

Thanks

Oh dear. I’m afraid it’s probably not the sensor but the ABS controller. Swap the left and right sensors before splashing out on a new one. If the fault remains on the left then it’s the controller (or the wiring but most likely the controller).

Are the controllers still available from Audi at some eye watering cost?

I believe Audi only sell the whole pump with controller.

Friend of mine bought a controller for his E34 BMW from Autodoc which looks identical.

It’s a Bosch part. There was a thread a couple of months ago with part numbers. I’d like to know whether any Bosch 5.7 module can be used.
