How to order a uprated torque converter from ze-germans...

Post by Jayjay101 » Thu Mar 14, 2019 1:56 pm

Hi chaps
So after finding I had a bent valve and have got to pull the engine I thought I’d use it as a excuse to do get a uprated TC.

I emailed a few company’s and the quickest to get back to me was getriebeklink in Germany so after exchanging a few emails with florian about the spec of my car he recommended there TC that will take up to 950nm of torque now all he would tell me about the spec is it’s got diesel clutch’s in it as he wants to keep the rest of the spec a secret.im ok with that seeing as the Germans all rave about there work and the gearbox and TC on the tte car was done by them.

So I got hold of a 2nd hand converter(cheers rs2!) boxed it up and sent it over there on the 14th of FebImage

Sent it via UPS insured for £24.0

it got to there workshop 3 days later and they send it to sachs/ZF and it’s built to there spec and sent back 2 weeks later then they sent it back to me and it got here this morning Image

Now I would have had it middle of last week but Florian put the postcode in the wrong place so it sat in the DHL warehouse for a few days

The cost of all this was £933.0 and I thought that was ok as that was with shipping.

Now I know there’s the opinions getting one from the USA but when advanced automotion (only ones that replyed to my emails)got back to me it was 210 dollars just in shipping for one of there’s as well as £110 to ship one out to them and still might get stung with import tax.

Florian also told me they are working on a lot of billet parts for are gearbox’s as well as better clutch packs.

Hopefully I’ll get it fitted in the next few weeks then I’ll get it mapped and let you all know what it’s like.

That's a decent turn around. Looking forward to hearing more.
