Ajc don't think the old boy would even know how to do that but I could be wrong...can't ask him as he passed away not long after it.

Sounds like the tcu firmware has been flashed to me and it's no longer running the viper tune.

From memory it needs to be above 57 degrees for the box to behave in normal operating conditions.

Can't remember if it's an ECU or a TCU measuring block. Probably TCU. Just have a look through the measuring blocks, it's pretty clearly indicated. When you put your foot down and feel the switch operate, then the input should change to "active" or "on" or something. Obvs, don't do this with the engine running.

Ok do that tomorrow Shopp just packed everything up. Broke the wire going to the maf putting the air box back on...maf on the right side so just finished soldering it back together, really tight on that right side.
Thanks for your help once again.

Would the TCU revert too base map if it detected an issue at all? . Almost like a limp mode ? .mind you if should throw up a fault code if this was the case wouldn't it? . Are the input and output seed sensors showing sensible numbers ?

From my understanding, the MAF data is used as part of the calculation for engine load. If the ECU is talking to the TCU and saying the engine load is actually less that what it is, then could that be a) delivering softer gear changes and b) changing the point at where the TCU changes to 5th?
