Tried that doesn’t sync it either...

Going to get it booked back in at Audi, they’ve already advised it could be another key but I don’t think the chap on the phone was a tech so he didn’t understand the situation well.

Did you check the fuses? Why don't you see if there's anyone close to you that can help you out with their Vagcom. If you take it to Audi they will arse rape you.

Even one of the £5 chinese clone vagcoms off ebay will help somewhat.

I’ll ask about my friends for a Vagcom and also get one of the cheap clones to see if that presents any solution. Which fuse specifically should I be checking?

I’m hoping to fight my corner with Audi and get it done under warranty from previous job or minimum so form of good will contribution.

Audi are slick when it comes to producing reasons why they don't have to pay. I could tell you some stories...

The cheapo Vagcom will at least tell you if you can communicate with the central locking / convenience module. A proper Vagcom will be most useful, obvs. And as previously stated, better putting £300 in a genuine Vagcom from ebay that you can sell for £300 than chucking money at Audi for their hocus pocus.

There are a shitload of wires going to the central convenience.

Check fuse numbers 6 (5A), 14 (10A) and 38 (20A).

If you can't talk to the CCM then that's where to start.

I have indeed fitted a brand new energiser battery, double checking the polarity is correct and retrying the syncing process, all to no avail.

No update on this, I pulled the appointment with Audi as it was apparent from their attitude it would not be covered under warranty.

I’ve managed to convince the wife to get me a genuine Ross tech VCDS for my birthday and should be here by the end of the week, hopefully that’ll help shed some light on the situation.

Resolved this for future reference.

Finally invested in a genuine Ross tech and literally took 5 mins to plug it in and re programme the key, still confused as to why it had forgotten the key as according to VCDS no key was stored in the memory?

Anyway central locking works as should now and I have the diagnostics should it happen again.

Even happier when I checked engine ECU and received the message ‘no fault codes found’!
