Drivers side front rubbing.

Post by Gav66 » Mon Jan 21, 2019 2:41 pm

All front and rear control arms changed with lemforder, full alignment been done and 2 michelin ps4 on front, now front off side tyre rubbing on the very top of the arch/wing. Kw 3 fitted before I bought it and the michelin pss that were on both( mostly drivers side ) were worn on the inside, I thought this was the nobbly bit but had it checked and seems there is plenty of clearance, that's when the control arms were showing signs of play.
Question, is it the ps4's or do I need to adjust the coilovers ?

Maybe that's the problem then. The PS4S on mine seem fine.

/Is it rubbing on the liner?

I did read the reviews and asked for the ps4's but they never had them in stock so they fitted the ps4. Why do you think it's only rubbing on the one side ?

Rubbing on the wing, the small screw at the top. Marked it with a permanent marker just to make sure.

First thing I would check is the tracking - if you are getting excessive wear on the inside shoulder (not from El Knobbo) then either the tracking or possibly the pressures are out.

I know the PS4S are quite a "square" tyre (in section, not looking at the wheel!) so it may be the profile.

If it's just rubbing the screw, then take it out!

If your car is low then you will get more wear on the inside. There is no adjustment for camber without replacing suspension bits for adjustable versions.

Thanks Shopp, it is low but never rubbed on the outside. I will keep an eye on it and see how it goes, I do think it's down to the ps4 tyre as you said but always better to ask. Also I mite just raise it a fraction and hopefully that will sort it, I take it the height adjustment of the Kws is pretty straight forward looking at it just need to adjust the big nut and measure both sides as I do it.

What tyre pressures is the norm on 255 35 19 just double checking so I can rule that out.
