“Hidden” fuse corrosion

Post by Capt Ric » Wed Jan 16, 2019 12:09 am

Whilst investigating a knocking noise (that I hadn’t noticed) from the steering; resolved by loosening then retightening the rack, Grizz and his team noticed a corroded fuse ‘hidden’ by the coolant tank. See photo below, which apparently is quite common, especially when the drains get blocked (which surprised me as car lives indoors most of time)
Relatively quick, cheap fix, that could have lead to a bigger problem.
Ironically I had only called in for a quick check on a couple of MOT advisories (which were unfounded) but there were a couple of minor items that needed fixing. Grizz lent me a car for the day, whilst he got the parts and his team fixed it.
I just don’t think you would get this level of service and expertise at many garages, especially a main dealer.
That’s why I’ve been going to Unit20 for the past 7 years, and am rewarded with a fairly reliable well maintained car, apparently one of the better ones!
Worth a 400 mile round trip? Definitely

Other owners might want to check their cars.
