^I've learned that lesson, too. Luckily I was able to get in through the driver's door. Boot was against the garage wall so I was lucky I hadn't pulled the load cover closed. It wasn't much fun climbing all the way into the back to lift the battery cover. Still, got it done in the end.

It's a pain to remove the undertray without lifting the car quite a lot. It's just too low to reach the nuts.

I wonder if you could access the alternator through the passenger side wheel well.

Smashing the window could be problematic if you've got the laminated / double glazed ones.

/Never mind, I was getting my LHD and RHD mixed up.

Yes smashing anything is a last resort as I know from experience you’ll forever be finding bits of glass everywhere regardless of how thorough the clean up is.

Ok so I’m looking to lube up the tyres to ease her out, will the standard A6 tow eye fit ours as I’ll need to source one seeing as mines locked in the car!

Ha. Another problem.
What was that movie The Martian? Matt Damon's character says "If you solve enough problems, you get to come home".
That sounds like "Life with an RS6, you solve enough problems, you get to drive it/keep it".
No matter where you go, there you are.

Ha it would seem that way. To be fair I’ve owned her a year now ( albeit covered under 2000 miles ) and touch wood she’s been faultless.

This current dilemma is not the cars fault but more so caused by my neglect to keep it trickle charged, the irony being I own a trickle charger but it’s in the box on the shelf above said car in said garage. :thumb:

Can't imagine towing eye will be any different. Lubed tyres should work. Especially as you say they are on carpet tiles. Just lube under them. Is the garage floor nice and smooth?

No it’s unpainted concrete, I should also note I’m a tenant so diassembling part of the garage is very much out the question.

I'd be worried about ripping the towing eye out the front of a 2 ton C5 RS6 tiptronic in 'park' with handbrake on if you tried to 'snatch' it out with another vehicle.

One of our MK Meet regulars found himself in a similar position after he flattened the battery with the car locked and the bonnet down.... He ended up dropping the undertray and connecting a positive to the start motor to get some charge into the battery

"Jacked it up, took off the undertray and connected a jump pack to the starter motor"

I would be very surprised if you managed to do that.

Yeah, same here. Maybe don’t use a 20ft rope and take a run up.

The handbrakes off it’s just in park, strangely I can rock the car back and forth a foot which will help me lube up under the tyres!

Anyone know a Yuasa part number for the RS6 battery for when I do get it out?

A big run up with 4wd and diff lock :rocker:

Let us know how you get on either way, might be an idea to record it, the payout from failarmy might help rebuild your garage or gearbox :boohoo:

Cheers

^This. This needs recording the sh1t out of.
Just work some alu sheet under the tyres, it needn't be to much (unless they're flat), spit on (lube) the carpet first, then give a good yank. .
No matter where you go, there you are.

Is the discussion still about retrieving the stricken RS? :bigblink:

YBX5020 https://www.yuasa.co.uk/batteries/autom ... x5020.html should be about half the quoted price. Or if you are feeling flush https://www.yuasa.co.uk/batteries/autom ... x9020.html
