2003 RS6 Build thread

Post by jolio1994 » Sun Jan 06, 2019 11:11 pm

Hello RS6 people, after owning multiple B5 S4's and B6 S4's, I decided it was time to pull the trigger on the RS6. My friend bought it back in 2012 and I told her back that if she ever wanted to sell it I'd be first in line. So fast forward to December pf this past year and she'd ask if I wanted it, without hesitation I made a few phone calls. She would bring it to Caffeine and Octane and other local car meets, and my parents would always run into them. My dad said it was still as clean as it was the day she got it, so without hesitation, I flew down to Atlanta, GA.

Bought the car 12/31 and headed back up to New Jersey on 01/01. Car did great on it's 1000 mile trip with no hiccups as to be expected. ~23mpg for all of us American folks out there!

It will need a few things as to be expected like the valve cover gaskets, coolant fitting inside the oil cooler, and rotors, but it's a pristine 2003 RS6 with 89,000 miles on it.

Thoroughly enjoyed those rules!

Clean ones are in the $20kUSD range. Most other's with either high miles, Northern "Rust Belt", rough and or no maintenance history... those are slightly less around the 10-14kUSD range.

FON.

You bought the car on the 12th day of the 31st month?? Something not right there... Haha
Beauty of a car though. FYI the UK still use MPG, the only difference is our Gallon is different to your Gallon! In UK terms that's about 27mpg which is pretty good! I have managed that once with the air con turned off. But normal driving with it on I get around 22mpg (18mpg in US)

'Murican's are smaller, I think, it's an Imperial thing. It's not a theme that's the usual with 'Muricans...

Not that there’s going to be a load of them to choose from over there so a previously known minter with decent mileage must be a massive plus

I knew the ones imported to North America had the different wheels but didn’t realise they hadn’t got the sat nav unit, or is that just that one and does it still have the Bose? Plus am I right in saying you only got the saloons and not the Avants, if so even less to choose from then!

Liking the Compass thing in the rear view mirror, is that a factory option?

A UK gallon is roughly 4.5 litres. From memory I think a US gallon is 3.7 litres.

Yea we only got ~800 RS6's in the United States, and unfortunately only in the saloon model. I've seen some with SAT nav, although this one didn't come with it, I think we can all agree it's garbage anyways haha.

Anyways, happy 25th birthday to the RS2's! Maybe one of those will come next haha

Quite a rare car over here to see, so must really be confusing to folk over there, probably not a lot of people even know what it is

Looks a good example, any plans for it?

Oh, FON!

Nice car! There were 1,435 RS6s sold in the US and 431 had Daytona Gray. Those are the official numbers from Audi when I asked them a few months ago.

At least it was to say something useful! From that we deduce that exactly 30% of US RS6 owners have excellent taste.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper
