Exhaust questions
Car is still relatively stock and still has OE exhaust on it, but I'm really hankering over a nice Milltek to get the noise flowing a bit more, couple of things though...
Can the OE exhaust be removed without damage or does it need cut to remove it?
Also, will OE exhaust start to rise in value if and when these cars hit classic status, people will want standard parts etc, is it worth keeping for future?

Re: Exhaust questions
The stock exhaust is held on with acouoke of sleeve joints and rubber hangers .it comes off in one section easily enough .
I guess it's always worth keeping hold of , but I'd suggest the plus system will be the more desirable one too get hold of in later years .

Re: Exhaust questions
What is so special about the plus system?
Re: Exhaust questions
It's got black tailpipes. I think that's the only difference.
I would (and do) keep the OE bit, but it's not always practical.
/You could just delete the centre section if you want a bit more volume without altering the nice tone of the OE exhaust.

Re: Exhaust questions
I imagine in a few years the OE systems will be hard to find (unless anywhere still sells then?) and people will eventually be looking to put cars back to stock so I'd definitely hang onto it, provided it doesn't get cut to <beep> taking it off
I'd rather get the Milltek than mod the standard tbh, looks aswell as sound better

Re: Exhaust questions
No need to cut anything (except possibly the bolts on the sleeves depending on their condition. I got new sleeves last time I took the exhaust off.
It's one of the easier exhausts to remove / refit that I've ever done.

Re: Exhaust questions
I don't think the Milltek sounds an awful lot different. It's not as growly as you may think. Does it offer much in the way of performance boost at all ? Since IMO the sound is not worth it to justify the cost...

Re: Exhaust questions
Good to know, just need to find somewhere to keep the bastard thing!

Mine hangs from my garage roof.

Re: Exhaust questions
If you want the full sound you need to take the pre-cats out of the DP's - you will also tehn free up the exhaust sufficiently to improve the turbo spool up etc. Throw in a Stage 2 tune to properly take advantage of the reduced back pressure, and you've got the beast running like she ought!I don't think the Milltek sounds an awful lot different. Re: Exhaust questions
Pre cats easy to remove ? MOT issues ?
Re: Exhaust questions
Mine just went through MOT - no issues at all and I had my pre cats ripped out when the engine work was done.
This is not an easy job. If not engine out it will need at least lowering to access the pre cats. Unless someone has tiny baby hands and can access all the bolts in there

Re: Exhaust questions
Precat removal requires removal of the DP's which is a pain, but the specialists like MRC are well used to doing. Main problem is that the bolts to the turbo frequently shear off when removing....Pre cats easy to remove ? MOT issues ?
No issue for MOT in my experience.
