Car caught fire what’s it worth

Post by ShazRS6 » Thu Nov 22, 2018 10:51 am

Guys last night I parked up and switched the engine off, made a phone call whilst sitting in the car and a guy walking pass tapped on the window telling me there was smoke coming from the bonnet

I got out opened the bonnet and saw flames so immediately jumped back and called the fire brigade

Anyway it’s fucked now
What’s it worth as it is
Anyone intrested in it?

Oooo that's not good. Glad you weren't hurt, I wouldn't have jumped back in of it was on fire.
Have you got the patience to break it?
Any mods done to it?

I just honestly don’t have the time to break it
I have a busy garage and don’t have the time or space

I hate seeing stuff like this so I feel for you plus this is a special car to the forum so it’s a double blow-as for what’s its worth its worth more in bits that would shift pretty quick-gearbox on its own is worth £1k I would say-is the intercooler ok on the side that caught fire? As there worth a bit

Probably got hi flow cats as well. I'd possibly have those if it was being broke.

Oh dear!!

That looks terminal!

Really sorry to see/hear that, and somewhat perplexed as there is nothing apart from the I/C in that corner that had been touched AFAIK. Of course you had taken the DRC off ........ :drink:

Presume you had insurance so you'll probably get back more than I sold it for to the scammers!!

End of an era for me with the C5. First one drowned and then died when the crank thrust bearings failed (due to water ingress) a few months later. And No 2 sold via scam, and then burnt out a few months later!

Hope these things don't go in threes - this week on the C7 I have spent a day polishing, had new tyres and spacers, had alignment checked and corrected, and had full service (at Audi) as it's one week to the end of its warranty! Don't want anything to happen to her!!

Of course, I may be third time lucky!!

Anyway, I still missed the old girl, but I think cremation is a fitting end.

Dave

PS - I used to keep a fire extinguisher beside the drivers seat, but took it out before I sold it to the scammers!

Sorry to hear this, if you do decide to break I'd be interested in the gearbox.

The gearbox has 517Trans uprated clutches, pump, TC etc, though it has done 100K miles and could do with a full rebuild before it goes back into something else.

The engine should be OK, and all the stuff like Milltek, Hotchkiss bars (a guy from Norway posted about those in the last 24 hours) I/C's (though yould need to check the N/S one pretty carefully, and I guess the (newish) interior should be OK too.

Good luck

Dave
