^This. The C6 disks have vanes like that, but they are not directional like the C5 disks.

You need to think in terms of relative speed between air and a given section of the disc: it's always higher on the top half (as the rotation goes 'against' the air flow) compared to the bottom half (where the rotation 'follows' the air flow). In other words the majority of the cooling is done by the top half.

Yeah, except the the disks are sheltered inside the wheels. I strongly suspect the airflow won't be linear but turbulent and possibly even principally axial through Venturi effect. Also, I have a feeling that the vanes are there to allow the hot air to be "flung" out centrifugally drawing cool air in from the center, acting a bit like a pump. I'd be interested to learn more about it (but no so much as to actually do any real research).

I do think in real world terms it makes zero difference on a road car.

/but obvs, my OCD wouldn't allow me to put the wrong direction disk on if the right one is available.

First I hope you & your family are well...

Reviving an old topic: I will probably make the jump soon for these Zimmermann rear discs, I'm just hesitating between the drilled version (100.3341.70 / 100.3342.70) and the non-drilled ones
(100.3345.75 / 100.3346.75). I'm aware of Shoppinit's preference for the later, it's also technically confirmed in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78wbht355R8, but I must confess that drilled discs look cool (to me) and since the rear won't take much abuse, I shouldn't worry much about the crackling.
Nevertheless the question for pads remain open and I suppose some will reply it shouldn't matter much for the same above reason ; but since we have the choice, what would be your recommendation (= best value for the money) for the intended use?

If you've got drilled on the front, but drilled on the back. Simple.

Think I put these on last time:

Drilled look better, but then you have the issue of having to clean the holes out.
You won't know any difference between solid and drilled unless you track the car, but then you'll have more chance of the drilled cracking.

Just grabbed a set of non drilled Zimmies rear discs (100.3345.75 / 100.3346.75) at the very decent price of 370€, DHL-delivered to my door (qp24.de). Thanks again for the discussion and the recommendations gentlemen.
