Mine caught fire after the 7th big stop when I was trying to bed them in.
All the cheap pagid, textar, brembo, mintex, etc. are made with cheap compound that isn’t up to the job. Pretty sure they are all made by federal mogul and only the packaging changes.
They’ll stop you once from high speed which might be all you require of them, but anything slightly resembling spirited driving will quickly see them fade and then you’ll be standing on the pedal trying to slow the car down. Ask me how I know.
The OE pads are very good. So good that once I boiled the brake fluid before the pads even started to fade. This was pre-C6 set up and a very real brown trousers moment.
I don’t believe there is a realistic cheap alternative to the performance compounds, unfortunately.
I haven’t tried the DS2500 in the RS6 but on the M3 they are really good. They stand up to track abuse well. They are also docile from cold and don’t need any warming up.
If you only drive the car on the motorway and don’t do any twisties, maybe the cheap pads are good enough for you. I’d be curious to see how well they’d stop you from 170mph.
