Bad news. :(

Got any more pics showing the wheels on the car?

What's the problem exactly? The wheels fouling the front calipers? The inside of the spokes?

No sorry I only have those 2 pics. Yes Shoppinit, the main problem is the concavity of the rims which touch the big front calipers, so the spacers have to be at least 21mm (hence the choice for 25).Maximum ET for those rims are 35 (which was my choice of course) so there's no way I can push the wheels back into the car...

I wonder if C6 brakes would help...

Twisted minds think alike. I was literally just trying to find the dimensions for them.

The C6 disks have a deeper dish so they will sit 6mm further in. But, and it's a big but, the bottom of the disk will foul the bottom suspension arm. That's why I need a spacer behind the disks to bring them further out.

I was thinking the calipers. The OP could always get new discs and a hat made to not use a spacer behind the disc.

Problem is, the disk can't go any further in.

/and disk position determines caliper position, obvs.

I like twisted minds.
Of course at the end of the day it all depends how much depth will I gain with the C6 system compared to the oem c5. Also I suspect those C6 disks and calipers to cost an arm and a leg..They look great though..

Classik, Given the amount of guidance we have already given on the forum on every aspect of spacers, bolt lengths, bolt heads etc, it is clear from your latest problems that the challenge of getting the right wheels etc is stretching your technical know-how.

Can I suggest that you get yourself along to Revolution or similar, and let them guide you on what will and won't fit?

I'm not trying to be "clever" or to put you down, it's just that getting this right is important for your safety as well as your enjoyment, and the specialists are able to give you clear advice and lead you through the options face to face!

Good luck

Dave

It's a long way from Paris to Newcastle, though, Dave.

These are some wheels I like for the RS6:

I also really like the OE 20" C6 (RS4 B7 type) alloys and they are the perfect ET IIRC.

These ones, and they wouldn't even need spacers so no insurance issues: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-X-Genuine- ... 3554402298

Plus in Kent, so it's just a couple of hours up to Calais then a quick Eurotunnel trip to pick up. If you wait 2 weeks, then the pound will probably be worth about 0.5 EUR.

I thought the issue was the wheel clearing the calipers. The C5 calipers are chunkier than the C6, right?

I can't remember. My feeling is that the C6 calipers are even chunkier than the C5 ones. Fewer pistons, but larger diameter. I could be wrong and don't have them to hand to compare.

@Daveperc : I don't feel put down by your comment at all, just the contrary. I truly appreciate all the knowledge and help that has already been given on this topic (and other), which is one of the reasons of my presence on this forum, and I hope to be able to help in return at some point.
Having said that, I never intended to play odds with such important parts of the car. For the record I chose those rims guided by a 'specialised' wheels retailer (that I won't name) which -as we know now- obviously didn't know enough about the RS6 C5, lesson learnt.

@Shoppinit: thanks vm the links, I really like those Bimoto in matte dark grey. Unfortunately I can't use 20' as these won't pass the MOT in France where we are supposed to keep the original tyre size (255/35/19). So i should have said : I'm open to any options/recommandations for 19' wheels ;)

Just put the OE wheels back on once every 2 years for the MOT. :)

You can use the 19" RS4 b7 wheels. Same design. They will have the same tyre size. Plus they'll be easier to find. And the perfect offset for the RS6.
