Now I need spacers

Post by Classik » Sun Oct 28, 2018 11:43 pm

After almost 3 months of RS abstinence, I'm finally back on track with a brand new (refurbished actually) zf 5HP24 gearbox. That's for the good news. The bad news is that my mechanic couldn't mount my brand new Japan Racing rims https://jr-wheels.com/towar.1826.japan. ... black.html because I was stupid enough to order them as et35 (like the original ones) without taking into account their concavity, so they touch the calipers. :bash:
So I need 5x112 spacers to fix that (10mm on each side will do) but I also need some guidance to choose the proper ones. Material, brand, with or without mounting bolts, what would you say ?
Thank you!

At 10mm you will need hub-centric ones. I'd go for H&R. Contact Virdee or Revolution Wheels (Site Sponsors) and they should be able to sort you out very quickly.

And yes, you'll need longer bolts.

Cheapest I managed to find them. Excellent service from them also. Very fast delivery.

Although I am still scared to death of all that weight sitting on them lol.

The ad is for the C6 - afraid I don't know if the hub or the bolts are the same as for the C5.

Many thanks for the responses so far, I'll definitely have a look at those links.
A bit of calculations for the wise people out there : knowing that those rim are 9,5 wide with et35, what would be the absolute max size of the spacers before the wheels go outside the arch? (pardon my French but I guess you understand the question 😊)

Regarding those C6 spacers, price is good indeed (edit: except for the shipping ), thanks for the link. Am I wrong to believe that as long as they are 5x112 they should be good to go?

Hi, as well as the bolt PCD (5 x 112) you need to check bolt length and the head shape. I know they are different between C5 and C7, but have no experience of the C6. They will probably be different for your Japan Racing rims anyway - may be best to talk to whoever supplied them to check what shape head they need, and what length bolts with the spacer.

You also need to check the hub size. From memory on the C5 it's 57.1mm and I know on the C7 it's 66.5mm. What I don't know is what it is on the C6 (cos I never had one!). You can probably check on H&R site to see if they recommend the same part numbers.

Good luck

This is actually the correct link ! My huge apologies for the C6 link. These above are currently fitted to my car with zero issues.

Interesting wheels, I look forward to seeing them on the car. They look like Rotas that all of the ricer bois used to run ten years ago innit. I like them.

Looking at the Japan Racing site the bolts look like they are standard 60 degree taper. The ones in the H&R pack look like they are loose collar R13 ,,,, but it's a generic photo I think and I couldn't see the bolt spec anywhere. Probably easiest to get the spacers from H&R and the right length bolts from JR.

Good luck

PS - Mark-RS are you running OEM wheels or some other spec?? The bolts need to suit the wheels.

My B7 and C7 both use R13 bolts.

I'll be happy to post pics of my own car when it's ready, meanwhile you'll find here a couple of photos of those rims on the RS6 :

They don't look as good there. The ones in your link look like they're extending beyond the arches by at least 15mm. Also, are they 20's? Those tyres are severely stretched.

The ones in the other pics were 10.5jx19r 22ET - I think. Yeah, stretch to <beep>. OP is doing the 9jx19 35ET? Those will probably work better.
