RNS-E Update

Post by PipRS6 » Mon Sep 17, 2018 1:16 pm

Hi All

I've got an RNS-E retrofitted in my C5. When I got the car there was no sat nav disc so I bought one. I bought 2016 disc as it said it would work with a full postcode search (2017 disc didn't). It came with the sat nav disc and a software update disc.

I put the sat nav disc in and it worked straight away but no post code search, which I am guessing is because I haven't done the software update. I then forgot about it until about 3 minutes ago. Can anyone tell me the procedure for updating the software? Had a quick search but not much useful info.

Stick the disc in and wait.
It should pick up there's a new firmware.
I'd be interested to hear how you get on as 7 digit postcode firmware was never officially released by audi.

Thanks for that. Is that engine on / engine off / ignition on....
Not sure on the postcode thing.... Just how it was sold. Its a Mk2 RNS-E if that makes a difference?

Did the 7 digit postcode work in the end?

The 7 digit post code works fine on mine along with the speed cam locations.

Wonder why there isn’t a 7 digit version of the 2018 maps... Seems a ridiculous trade off - usability vs. accuracy...!

I assume there will be... or possibly is by now. But at the time I purchased the disc it wasn't available.
