H and R coil overs - worn out?
Re: H and R coil overs - worn out?
I’m still running DRC, recently had a couple of pipes replaced at Audi. The ride is so good I wont be changing just yet.

Nice one Parky, glad I’m not alone!
If it ain’t broken, why fix it?

On here he said he changed them to coil overs. Or is this not your car?
So many twists and turns with that story about your car I couldn't keep up!

I'm on 112k and DRC is running strong - still on original bits.
My guy working on my RS hve a customer with RS6 that also have everithing stock and car is in mint condition. Owner asked them to keep it original including DRC and they had it all sorted for him once.

Oh - hadn't seen that!! Oh well, sad to see the old girl being butchered but such is life!
After all, apparently he's going to fit a white leather interior too - that will really improve it!!

Strange isn't it. I commented when the new owner said the suspension was jiggered, wouldn't have thought that the DRC would have given up completely in such a short space of time.
Re: H and R coil overs - worn out?
No, nor would I - not after I had been perfectly happy with it for the past 6 years! And believe me, I do know when DRC fails - had it plenty of times! However if he's happier having taken it off then good luck to him.I commented when the new owner said the suspension was jiggered, wouldn't have thought that the DRC would have given up completely in such a short space of time.
He's doing a number of things that don't need doing (eg rear disks - replaced about 6K ago, and barely worn), but if it makes him feel happier the so be it.
Still can't get my head round white leather though!!

Each to their own. When I used to do powerboats, someone would buy a boat in good nick, but then "rebuild" it. Then they'd sell it and the next person would "rebuild" it again, and so on.
Except for me. I bought one, and it was truly fucked.

Re: H and R coil overs - worn out?
After doing a couple of things on mine I suspect the springs on my H&R seem to be very compressed at the top and not giving the support they once were. Its on the list of things to do but where is the best place/price to get them from?

Re: H and R coil overs - worn out?
Sorry to resurrect this thread. I know you all highly regard the Pss9 but what if I just replaced the springs in my setup? The current ones were H&R 29482 but I see that there is 29298 springs too.
If my shock absorbers work fine and the springs fit into the plates would this be acceptable? Obviously there are spring manufacturers who can make them to order too. Does anyone do this or is it not the done thing and just better to get a whole new set up? What are the pros and cons? Any advice gratefully received from you knowledgable people!

Re: H and R coil overs - worn out?
I wouldn't do this. I don't even think they'll fit the front shocks. You could go the Koni and stock springs route. Some people have done this and claim it's a good solution.

Re: H and R coil overs - worn out?
If you want the car to stay a little lower i would recommend H&R lowering springs specifically for the RS6 coupled to a set of KONI adjustable shocks , we adjust them specifically to suit the RS6 , ride is marvellous as per all the RS4 guys that have entrusted us with their cars . Not harsh and crashy , very comfortable and drives exactly like the new car was . also very competitive price and a Guarantee .
