I’ve thought about going this route myself but to be honest I think bams right in the fact it’s not worth it ! Yanks are obsessed with ditching the slush box,U Can’t beat Being on boost on a B road going up and down though the gears using the paddles-my plan is level 10 kit-uprated converter-517 valve body-gauge to keep an eye on temps and build it all into my spare box over the winter.and try not to cut any wires this time

Hi Daveperc, you're not serious right? Paddles control and manual gearbox are 2 different animals, a totally different experience ; I mean really! :!:

What you mustn't forget is that a turbo motor on a manual box in what's ultimately "a barge", isn't gonna set you on fire. The autobox favours the classic (retro) turbo motor this car has (old fashioned plain bearing turbos etc) and uses the slip in the TC to lets the revs pick up and get the motor on boost quicker. A manual box, it's all up to you to get it on boost. I'd argue your 0-60 time would be slower unless you're really giving it 10/10 on a manual box. On a track car - hell yeah. On a 1.8t barge - no thanks.

I'd say to each his own, and tbh I'm not that much interested in pure performance as such, but by the 'experience'.
If you enjoy driving - as we all do here I suppose- you understand there is a world of finesse in this clutch pedal, letting you decide exactly how and when to deliver the power to the wheels, just by playing with the slip.
Although it's probably true the latest generations of automatic gearbox would beat the manual equivalent in a 0-60mph contest, an old automatic gearbox like the 5HP24 always feels annoying and 'distant' to me. So yeah, even when driving a 'barge' like the RS6  i prefer to keep the stick! :)

The RS6 slushbox driving experience is greatly improved by an MTM TCU mod.

Wow wow, that's really bad! Aren't you afraid the inner part would be in the same state?
Regarding the Polish company, by all means let us know how it goes!

I agree - particularly with respect to control of the clutch. However your earlier post said you didn't like a chip deciding which gear you should be in, and flappy paddle mode gives you full control of that.

Personally, with traffic the way it is on UK roads, (and from my memory Paris isn't too different), sitting riding a heavy clutch for hours in jams doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun as an "experience", though I'll grant that for a blast through open country on back roads it would be fun.

First thing I do when I buy a car is change the oil every thousand miles until the oil stops going black immediately after the change, to flush everything out. That said, this one is way beyond that.

I'm totally with you here, the car is not a daily that I would use during jam hours, but more a fun/weekend/vacation car to ride with the family ;)
