Very nice car indeed, but I need a bigger trunk for the family..
Good plan, stops them getting their sticky fingers and muddy shoes all over the Recaro seats. You could even put the dog guard up to make sure they can't climb back in to the main bit of the car!
Haha, that's not very nice! :? But had the children been too bad, I would have change them first before even thinking of changing car or gearbox!

It was other people's grubby kids ruining my RS6 that prompted me to get the Volvo.

If you enjoy driving - as we all do here I suppose- you understand there is a world of finesse in this clutch pedal, letting you decide exactly how and when to deliver the power to the wheels, just by playing with the slip.
Although it's probably true the latest generations of automatic gearbox would beat the manual equivalent in a 0-60mph contest, an old automatic gearbox like the 5HP24 always feels annoying and 'distant' to me. So yeah, even when driving a 'barge' like the RS6  i prefer to keep the stick! :)
Totally Agree.

When time comes and my 5HP24 dies, it will be time for a manual swap. Not only the feeling manual car gives, but I will also appreciate the weight reduction the manual swap gives.
5HP24 weighs in at apx 146kg with fluids, so a prob 60kgs lighter DQT diesel box will only be beneficial.

Have spoken to a guy who has put the BCY engine into his B5 and even if he is only using the 3 bolts that lines up between the 01E and the BCY block, and has the car producing apx 880bhp this holds up pretty good in this track car.

So i might skip the adapter plate also.

So is this feasibly cheaper than a auto box rebuild ? I'm guessing only if you can do the work yourself ?

The biggest problem with manual gearbox swap is the abs/esp and software/ecu problems. As I know only one company is able to do that well in Europe and it is R Performance company located in Warsaw/Poland. Just keep in mind that they have a LOT of different projects and sometimes You need to wait around 4-6 months to do any job there. They did a manual swap and it works without any problems, without any abs issues and all other. I dont know about the final price but I think it should be around 4K-4,5K Euro. This is the web page of that company http://www.rperformance.pl/eng_index.php

MTM did one however they used an 4.2 S6 bottom end already mated to a Manual gearbox and built the engine up...

MRC have done it, too. Bam_bam's for example.

My friend enquired recently at MRC for a manual swap and was quoted close to 15k iirc

You need to seriously love your car and want a manual at all costs to justify that price. Unless of course you’re minted and money is no object

I managed to get my 2.5tdi a6 for £260 off eBay with current Mot, I’m a mechanic in the vw group so all work will be done myself bar the coding of abs that will go to MRC 👍
