I saw that too. I was going in the opposite direction.

In the old days (points ignition & carbs), I reckon you'd have a good chance of fixing most things by the roadside (I used to carry a spare set of points and a dwell meter with me!). These days, it's hardly even worth lifting the bonnet until you've got it in a workshop.

I carry a scanner in my car all the time these days .I've used it on other people's cars more than my own mind.
