Getting 600+ bhp - questions
Getting 600+ bhp - questions
OK guys
Got couple of questions about getting 600+ bhp from the RS
As I have "new" engine ready and a spear set of turbos with it. I'm thinking of getting all done to get 600+ out of it.
I will be sending the turbos to get overhauled to achieve that kind of numbers.
I have all the intake side of things covered - turbos, wagners filters all done
Now questions are around exhaust side.
I have a non res catback Miltek, standard cats and manifolds.
Is is a MUST to do decat and redoing the manifold or 600 is still achievable with standard bits.
Also if you have decat I assume it will fail on the MOT exhaust test ???
All suggestions welcomed

Re: Getting 600+ bhp - questions
I think you'd struggle on the standard downpipe set up . I would be chucking a set of aftermarket downpipes with sport cats on .
I assume you'll be getting the turbos upgraded when you have then rebuilt ? .

Re: Getting 600+ bhp - questions
You'll need to follow the Bam/Amanda routes, but achieving 600+ isn't as easy as it sounds. You've also got the gearbox question - shouldn't you be uprating that too to cope with the torque?
For me I don't think it'll be worth the extra spend. Not much space for bigger turbos with the gearbox in the way, inconel manifolds/water/meth injection all for another 50bhp? I know Bam hit high figures in Darth but I'm sure Amanda spent a hell of a lot and didn't quite get what she wanted.

Re: Getting 600+ bhp - questions
I think with hybrid turbos, sports cat and a decent map you should be able to achieve up to 600. People are getting 560+ on a standard turbos with decat and remap (but at the top end). Suspect the hybrid turbos would give you a bit more. You might reach 600. Is it worth it, though?

Is this whp or on the flywheel? If so SC RS4 are producing more power than this.

Re: Getting 600+ bhp - questions
So - for the turbos I'll be using those guys PERUN TURBOS - for turbos ready for 650 it'll cost me around £920
Gearbox wise - not a problem. My guy ( the one from Wembley) He's got some stuff ready for me and gbx will be upgraded for this, once mine dies.
So will have to get the Sport cats in then - this one I was interested most
Had to buy the engine and it came with everything including turbos. So I have set of turbos, original ICs and couple of other bits for sale. So should recover some money out of that. I'm pretty sure all in all it'll balance out moneywise

Cool. Will be interested to see how it turns out.

Re: Getting 600+ bhp - questions
Just put the race DPs on from Miltek, I've never had an issue with MOT in 7 years.
The TTEs that Shoppinit posted will get you as close as possible but you'll probably need to lower compression for 600+ and that just isn't really worth it IMO. 560-570 and a stunning bit of torque will be available on the TTEs, I think a couple of people have posted 900+Nm. I have never heard of these "Perun" guys but here's the thing; unless they 'expertly' remove material from the hotsides, I doubt you'll get the results they're peddling.
Other things:
ICs - these will need to be up to the task, otherwise, one WOT and you're soaked.
TCU - It'll need remapping (changing shift points to raise rev-limit), that will get you closer.
Good luck.

Re: Getting 600+ bhp - questions
My car is standard and feels brutally fast... I’d get excited at the thought of just a custom remap let alone 600+BHP
Re: Getting 600+ bhp - questions
All cars always need 100bhp more. Fact.

Re: Getting 600+ bhp - questions
Bam makes an important point - torque. The thing that makes the cars feel brutal is torque. More hp @ 7000rpm would make a manual car quicker on the track, but more torque @ 2-4.5k is really where it's at to make them feel brutal in almost every other scenario.

Re: Getting 600+ bhp - questions
The autos are so much better at surfing the torque curve too.

Re: Getting 600+ bhp - questions
Yeah, autos & turbo are a great match. I'm actually gonna ditch the turbo motor from my Ultima in favour of NA. It's great when on boost, but actually quite a bitch to keep it in the sweet spot without constantly changing gear. And it's not powerful enough.
