Is that 890.5 wheel power? I'd expect over 130hp lost from crank to wheel.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Correct it’s a manual but there’s also a guy who’s just finished he’s big build and he’s still on the auto but it’s had a lot of upgrades that I’m still trying to find out!Weiß-sechs wrote:Is the 801 not the whp? 890.5 bhp?

Re: Impressive bhp numbers from are friends over the pond
Any info on engine mods? Beefed up bottom end, head/cam work? I've heard the BCY is tough but that's pretty much double original hp
Re: Impressive bhp numbers from are friends over the pond
Apparently, the BCY will hold 850 on stock internals. Just seen it's running TiAL880s - he must've bought those a LONG time ago, I thought they stopped doing them like 5yrs ago, they're based on GT28s, I think.
The boost threshold must be steep, Is there a dyno graph? It'd be such a different car if it still had a TC/slushy.

Isn't that what the Gumpert Appollo was running on the same block, powerwise?

Probably explains the TiAL880s too.
Loosely related... I'm quite impressed by the TiAL BOVs (in an industrial kinda way). Got a couple fitted to one of the fleet.
Not so good when they start blowing off oil, though... Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Re: Impressive bhp numbers from are friends over the pond
I knew the Gumboot Apollo ran a BCY, not sure what had been done to it.
From Wiki:
The Apollo uses a 4163 cc bi-turbo intercooled version of the Audi V8 engine. The 90° V8 has a closed-deck light metal crankcase with dry sump lubrication. The light metal cylinder heads have five valves per cylinder, four overhead camshafts, VarioCam Direct variable valve timing on the intakes, and hydraulic valve clearance compensation. The double-flow exhaust system has four oxygen sensors to monitor the gas mixture, and a 3-way catalytic converter. Modern controls include an on-board diagnostic system, eight-coil electronic ignition, sequential multipoint fuel injection, and an electronic (drive by wire) accelerator system.
There are 3 engine types available:
Base version - approximately 650 PS (478 kW; 641 bhp)
Sport version - approximately 700 PS (515 kW; 690 bhp)
Race version - approximately 800 PS (588 kW; 789 bhp)
Speed overview (650HP):
Top speed is 360.4 km/h (223.9 mph)
0-100 km/h (62 mph) reached in 3.1 seconds
0-200 km/h (120 mph) in 9.1 seconds.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: Impressive bhp numbers from are friends over the pond
There was a video on YouTube about the bloke that was responsible for doing the gumpert engines. IIRC they had them developed by a big company but had problems and switched to a more bloke in a shed type arrangement.
