Rebuilding a Monster - The be-birth of Brutus Maximus
Re: Rebuilding a Monster - The be-birth of Brutus Maximus
I think the branding works. Don’t like the matte finish, obvs, but looks tidy.
Who did what to the gearbox?
/would benefit from 10mm spacers to give it perfect stance.

Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)

Love p
B16 pss9,S.
As I have just found out. Don’t forget the brake booster valve. Really cheap precaution measure if engine out. Otherwise all day job to replace it.

Cheers Shopinnit. Understood regarding Matt finish but, tbh, had not seen an RS6 with the same. Probs are a few but it does look sweet and gives form to the lines etc.
Who did what to the gearbox?
First attempt, they somehow totally destroyed the gearbox. 2nd attempt there was an issue with reverse. So, I got some other guys in who re-did it using XTrac (XM031) racing components and keeping the BHP to a nominal 525, then should result in a gearbox that can handle extreme loads and will last. Guys who destroyed the original box had to pay for the shiney new racing version. Worked out quite nicely.

Excellent point.

Pretty standard it seems.steve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 9:18 amYes. Paint bubbling on the roof channels on mine too.

Guys who did the wrapping, totally cleaned the body, removed rust ( was only a small bit on the onside roof sill. Zero rust anywhere else), filled in any chips etc, so the final wrapped result is smooth as a baby's butt.
Underneath, will not look 100s (was about 90% clean) but plan was not to spend 3 times as much on a respray and can always get it re-wrapped whenever Brutus wants new clothes.
Happy days and hope all goes well with yours.

That sounds good. What was the cost of the prep work and wrapping.
Have seen Yanni on tv do amazing wrap jobs.
Thought about it myself. But other mechanical jobs have taken priority at the moment.
Regards Steve.

Top quality job at decent price.
Also included full all round smokey window tints.
Very pro guys who push the limits on design and trying different techniques.

All in all. Total car rebuild. Components listed in previous replies. New mean as fu*k gearbox now. Wrapping. Tinting. Total cost: just under £10k. Happy days and a happy wallet.
