Cars gone f££kin bang!!

Post by MR P » Sun Feb 11, 2018 3:06 pm

Hello punks, fellas, peeps, bitches, ladies and gents!!
Went to accelerate hard at 70 and there was a almighty bang and lost all drive. All gearbox gears select but no drive. What could this be?
Im sat waiting to be recovered.

Any suggestions and advice is much appreciated.

Mr P:)

Probably a CV joint or driveshaft.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

Hope so,
i cant see it being the gearbox as its only done 12k and ive only driven the car since the map was installed, and not like a maniac, about 9/10 times.
Will keep you posted when i get it to a garage. Im so busy at the moment i did not need this to happen! Lol lucky i got a dent magnet to potter about in.

It doesn't rain, it pours, eh?

Was it a repaired gearbox then?

Let us know what it turns out to be. Is the reconditioned box guaranteed?

No mate.
If it was taken back for a gearbox service after 6k at A1 then the paperwork seems to suggest it would have been but he didnt and ive had the car for 2k miles.
I will see whats up when i get round to it. Probably Wednesday! Battery died aswell. Not in the mood for it to be honest this wk.
Makes me just want to get it fixed and sell it cheap. Im a bit of a miserable <beep> at the moment. Who knows, i love them though! Still have parking issues too. Since putting a deposite down on the car last September ive had a lot of bad luck.
Thanks for the kind ear i will stop there....lol

Hopefully it’s something cheaper than a box for you.

Not yet mate other then it needs to go up on a lift and toed to garage. Tried to yesterday as it was booked in today and the battery is completely fkd. Trying for an hour to charge it off another car but its dead. So now i have to order a new battery before i can take it to get fixed. Mechanic said it isnt propshaft so thats one tging off the list. Others have said it may be torque convertor but were see. Im sure it will cost me though. Lol
Not sure which battery to get to be honest or correct size. The one that is in the car looks a little small. Should i be getting the 397mm long one? 90/100ah is it? I have 60% off GSF with a code so was going to go there.

From the DIY section, but its personal choice which brand you get , obviously a good brand costs more, but should last longer ( or have a longer guarantee).
Battery
110Ah
Varta VA0 DE 000 915 105 AK
Dimensions: 394mm long, 175mm wide, 190mm high

Batteries are coded by tyoe/size
An 020 is the code for the battery you need. around the £110-120 mark is average.

DONT buy the one from ECP for £279.99 though !!
