check control function
Hi all
I collected by RS6 C5 today and am very happy. Now trying to make sense of the manual and what it says about this function. when I press the adjuster with the ignition on it cycles through a few warnings and then says ok which I guess is good but the manual suggests that when I start up and engage a gear it should briefly say Ok but it does not do that. Do I have a problem.
I have another query I will post separately thanks
Julian

Re: check control function
You might have a problem. I'd do a few silly things like make sure washer fluid is topped up and the battery is well charged. Make sure all the tyres are pumped up correctly. Then set the tyre pressures in the tyre setting section.
If it doesn't show OK when shifting out of P it might be a gearbox issue that is just starting. Mine did that and it was down to the transmission range sensor (F125) switch. It causes bangy gear changes and reverse goes THUNK. Then the PRNDS doom lights come on. Again it's another reason to take it to a specialist to check over. It wasn't long between the first symptoms and the doom lights. It's also unwise to drive it with the gearbox warning light on.

Re: check control function
I guess following on from the comments about tyre pressure, make sure your car still has the tyre valves with the tyre pressure monitoring sensors in them - if they have removed from the actual wheels, it would throw things off.

Thanks all.
I think I will have a specialist, the Phirm look at the car and report back and if there is an issue speak to the dealer. There is a guarantee and the dealer is a genuine and helpful guy/company. The Phirm in blackwater Surrey seem highly regarded and they know my car.
regards
Julian

Re: check control function
I noticed the tyre inflation warning was off. The car had new tyres put on when I got it so I pumped the tyres to 40 psi as recommended for the 255 r19 35's and stored the pressures and now on starting and engaging gear I get the ok message happy(ish) days because now noticed brake judder when slowing from fast motorway speeds. Grr!
Re: check control function
There's always something. When you first get one you'll find all the things the previous owner wasn't arsed to fix plus a few new things that will break just for you. This is the burning £50 notes for fun club
Re: check control function
The previous owner spent £1000's on this car in the 7 months he had it, I would know, as it was me!!!
Now in a C6 as I want 700bhp.
Julian has bought a great car but as we all know they like to stop working just for the fun of it!!! Or do something one day that they never do again!!!!
Oh the joy!!

Re: check control function
Love this car. Can't stop driving even when I've got nowhere to go. Will love it even more when sorted out a few things which fingers crossed are minor. I'm only Insuring it for 5k mikes a year so should start saving them up.
