Bwahahaha... So I'm in for some fun and games it seems.

I wonder how difficult it is to dismantle the brake pedal all together. It might be easier for me to just remove it so I can easily access these parts and see what's happening. Thankfully the BLS is easy to replace, is this bloody clip that's bugging me - it's number 7:

Ok, so the image above was wrong, as I suspected.

Here is a link to the part in question - https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Audi-RS4-RS6-A4 ... Sw9qJagtzp

Below is the parts catalogue image, it is part 7 and not 4 as the image suggests. I suspect though, that the bearing shell is also missing, so I would require both parts.

RS6_BrakeBoosterClip.JPG

Has anyone had to work on this part before? I have an idea as to how to go about getting it out but I am not sure how it actually secures itself into the brake pedal. So before I go replacing the parts, I need to figure out how they should seat first - maybe mine isn't broken but just not secured.

So the parts for the brake pedal issue arrived (BLS, plastic mounting and a metal cap), so I will go pick those up today if I get the chance.

So I was told that there was a slight problem with the radio and the RADIO button was stuck, that's why I couldn't get into any of the other sections. So last night I decided to pull out the RNS-E so I could dismantle it and take a look at the RADIO button issue. Well, to say I am angry is an understatement - someone previously butchered the living crap out of the original harness and plugs (I guess to fit a cruddy aftermarket radio). I am now trying to see if I can find anyone that has documented what cables are for what. Obviously I have the original pin out on top of the radio, but I would actually need to know what colour cables, go to what pin. I am going to have to cut away at all the rot and actually make a new section of loom to get this all working again.

I am so upset about it - why oh why would someone just cut into the OEM harness.

Yeah, it's shocking what people do to electrics in cars. I have seen MAF wiring repaired with chewing gum and kitchen foil before now. Just take your time and do it right. All the wiring is in Elsawin.

Thanks Mavada I came across the same stuff. I'm going to have to narrow it right down to each wire colour to be sure the plugs haven't been played with either.

Unbelievable, really. I dismantled my RNS-E today and guess what, more great news for me. The RADIO button wouldn't actuate and that was the original reason for pulling the radio out (which was when I discovered the butchers wiring). Well, the PCB behind the RADIO button is gone. Completely broken off and the piece no where in sight. So yeah, looks like I am going to see if I can find another RNS-E too.

You might be able to buy an A3 unit (much more common) and swap the facia. It'll be tricky sourcing an A6 RNS-E.

There was some discussion on this on here, but quite a while ago.

So I thought I'd add some photos of the bugger ups the previous owner did. Makes me so sad. :bash:

Yup, looks par for the course. You can expect to see more horrors the deeper you dig thanks to the DPO.

I don't want to even think about that. :boohoo:

Trying to keep positive and figure out my plan of action to correct. I've ordered some repair wires which I will use to redo the bust up cabling. I need pull all the door cards and see if there's any spliced wiring as they ran their own cabling seeing they didn't understand the Bose setup.

I sold the race car on Sunday (Polo 9N3) so that's free'd up a garage. Now to sell my other Polo, Sooty. Then I can start to focus on the RS properly.
