Battery replacement.

My RS has been sat since Oct and the battery is flat as a pancake..
Put her on charge however it doesn’t seem to be charging to full. My charger will charge up battery and then switch to maintenance mode and this is not happening so I’m assuming the battery is possibly on it’s way, so........
What batteries are proven to be good and well priced..
Links/thoughts?

I replaced mine about a year ago. I had the Varta one but I couldn't get hold of another one at the time. So I bought a Bosch one instead. The two batteries are identical!
I'll try and get a picture of the Bosch one tomorrow if it stops raining for long enough

Those big batteries can take a long time to charge. Varta FTW.

Got mine from Tanya batteries for £125 last year.

I usually just use a Halfords battery, good savings with a trade card and 5 year warranty can’t go wrong

Good luck trying to use that warranty, though. They always wriggle out.
I've had unbranded, cheapo batteries that have lasted for 10+ years and I've had known brand batteries that have hari-kari'd after 4 years. Seems to be pot luck. Once the battery in my Golf 2 exploded and the acid stripped all the paint off the battery tray and engine bay around it.
I think it was a Bosch.

With a 110Ah battery and a feeble charger, could take as long as 3 days.

I recently charged some 180Ah marine batteries from flat and that took about 5 days.

I had my Varta one on charge for over 36hrs on an old and fairly basic Halfords charger. But it has done the job fine. It'

Aha.. I’ll keep charging then I’d say this had been on for 18rs. I just assumed it would have trickle charged by then?

Simplistically: Most domestic chargers are less than 4A max charging current. Also the current tapers off as the battery charges. So say on average 1.8A over the charging cycle. Assuming 70% charging efficiency to charge a 110Ah battery (assuming full capacity) then it'll take approximately 3.7 days. Maths, innit.

Swapped a few myself, never had that much f a problem. They email you the receipt now too.
