Aftermarket head unit to replace RNS-D

So I fancy this unit, can some one post up the link for the correct Fascia surround and loom adaptor please?

I'd try and get the unit, faceplate & loom from the same retailer - speak to them first and confirm it suits your needs. They should be able to tell you if you need anything else...

I'm afraid I can't quite remember the exact kit I used to fit it - I have a vague recollection it was the connects2 - http://www.connects2.co.uk/Product/ProductItem/CTKAU05
You have a choice then of either using the connects 2 cage & surround or the pioneer one.

Quick Q

Does the Pioneer allow you to play CD s in the CD player in the boot?

Does the Pioneer connect to the GPS aerial on the roof? Or does the GPS location depend on a signal to the phone-?

1. Not sure. I exclusively use Spotify now for music through the head unit.
2. Has its own gps but it’s only used for setting the time as you use apple maps for navigation. That runs off the gps on your phone. Works really well unless you don’t have internet

Does anyone know if there is a main Live and a switched live in the loom ? Or will I need to patch them in ?

Head unit has now arrived, as has the wiring loom/adapters so as soon as the rain stops pissing it down I'll be out having a play ! Just wondering if it's going to be a simple 10 minute plug and play or if I am going to have to be adding in extra wires myself ?

There must be; have a look at the wiring layout on the back of the RNS to check.

(I know there is in the lead out to the CD changer so it must be there on the input)

It should be a simple plug and play .
However , make sure the amp is switching off and not staying live as this is common for draining the battery

For some reason this appears to be what I have behind my dash. Plugging everything in seems to allow me to turn everything on with ignition and it goes off with ignition, but I don't seem to have any sound at all !

Looking at the wiring it appears that half the speaker wires go to one plug ? And half go to the other ?

Is this even standard wiring ? Or has it been played with before ?

Of the 2 black plugs, the one on the right seems to give the power, but the one on the left I have zero idea what they are ? Don't think they are speaker wires ? As I though those were the grey, green etc which are split amongst the other plugs ?

Yeah that looks different to mine. That red bullet connector in pic 3 is not standard I dont think.

The aftermarket adaptor I got was this one from amazon. The blue bullet connector I think was for the remote to the sub (if you put this on the wrong one, it keeps the amp running all the time)

It's really hard to remember!

Yeah I certainly think someone has had a poke around here before. There is a parrot thingy my bobby stuck to the dash which I am going to remove, maybe this is sliced in somewhere ?

Like I said, it all appears to power up fine. I can connect my phone to it but just no sound. I may have to start unpicking the blocks where the speaker wires "Appear" to be and join them up and see if I get sound...

Or I may just pay someone who know what they are doing to avoid me setting the car alight 2 weeks after getting it

I am always horrified at what people do to car electrics. Shat works seems to be the rule rather than the exception. Once I saw some MAF wiring stuck together with kitchen foil and chewing gum.
