Gearbox thread
Re: Gearbox thread
Bargain. Bit of a trek from the UK though.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)

Re: Gearbox thread
Isn't he the same guy who drops the box without an engine pull? Sure I've seen another thread on here a while back.
Re: Gearbox thread
Yes it's the same one
Re: Gearbox thread
can anyone recommend any gearbox builders that could do the rebuilds to a high standard with the proper parts for folk that was willing to go through the heart breaking pain of removing the box themselves?
Re: Gearbox thread
Look few posts up- that guy does the lot himself - Leave the car with them and he take's the box out and back in.
Re: Gearbox thread
Jordell reckon its my gearbox internals.
It was rebuilt by A1 on 96 and its now on 108k. Im actually a bit down today but hey ho lets fkn go!! I also told them they can go fk themselves on what they just charged me to look at the car and got it down to 50 quid. Wont be back in a hurry.
Unreal, some people think your loaded and try taking the piss.

Re: Gearbox thread
Did they mention possibly what caused the fault? Moisture perhaps?

Re: Gearbox thread
Yes moisture due to water ingress from pollen filter housing seal.
New ECU, carpet removed and dried. Seal replaced.
If any of you are still on the original pollen filter seal I’d replace it if I were you...
Thank you MRC- brilliant as usual.

Re: Gearbox thread
Yep - MRC are rather good at rebuilding very wet beasts!!
Re: Gearbox thread
Ouch, I think I am going to put it on my LOSTD list for the RS and ensure that I replace the seal around the pollen filter and ensure the drain plugs are clear. I need to replace the rain tray (it's a little damaged from the previous owner gluing down the inspection cover for the coolant bottle....
