Maf fault codes

Post by wooders » Sun Mar 05, 2017 5:09 pm

Hello,I've had my rs6 for coming up for year now and keep getting p1074 and p0103 maf limit exceeded when pushed to the redline from 2nd gear onwards. The traction light comes on just as its changing gear this is when the faults logged.I have replaced both Mafs, fitted kwe intercoolers and changed both diverters along with n249 valve.I have just finished pressure testing the system upto 1.2bar and can't hear any leaks from under the inlet manifold.I can't be sure weather the car has been remapped as there is nothing in the history to say it has,it definitely goes very well.Any advice as of what to do next would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Swap the MAFs left to right to see if the problem stays the same or moves to p1073.

What condition are the MAF connectors in? They are known to perish and I have seen some very dodgy fixes.

Can you log live MAF flow with your ODB2 reader? Would be interesting to see what happens when you are driving.

Might be worth checking the operation of your DVs.

Also, FON.

Thanks for the FON😂 and quick reply, these 2 faults did occur with the old mafs fitted.I have checked the connectors to the mafs the only thing I could see wrong was the rubber boots split so repaired them with self amalgamating tape, the purple coloured terminal retainers seem ok.Do you think it could be a <beep> remap causing it?.The one thing I have not done is log a run so will get out and try, only have a snap on solus scanner.Again thanks.

Get a scanner that can do live logging. Ideally a VCDS, but the OBD2 ones on amazon can do it do and they are fairly cheap. Not sure if ODB2 will show the airflow for both MAF or just combined.

I don't see how the MAF can over read unless it's an electrical problem. Or a rubbish map.

I know it's been a while but I did eventually get to the bottom of the fault codes coming on.It had been mapped and it was <beep>, apparently there is a section for maf limits exceeded just for fault code purposes and this had not been raised.
Still loving the car even though I had a lifter <beep> itself, I had to have a bit of a sit down when I found out how much 40 lifters and 2 cam adjusters were. Worth every penny though.
