I'm going to change my RS6 for a V6 TT

Post by Dave » Wed Apr 30, 2003 12:49 pm

Guys,

how's this for a problem..

A business has come up for sale that I know will grown and in the long run makes me loads more dough.. but it means selling the RS6 to realse some capital...

Should be able (by the 4th quarter) to afford the V6 TT..

what do you reckon I should do:
a) Stay as I am and carry on with the RS6?
b) Get rid of the car, buy this new business, secure mine and my familys future and have what I want in 5 years time?

Bloody hell.. I could cry

Sounds like you've already made your decision.....

Why not get an RS4?

Got to think about the future .

True mate,

but really I have NO choice.. the RS6 is just mine, the wife doesn't like driving it etc etc,

By investing in this other business aswell it will secure our future (more than it is already)...

So I will be waveing it a VERY sad goodbuy

I replied over on Tyresmoke as well, but in a nutshell: I'd give up mine if it was necessary for the business. If you buy this other business and make loads more money, reward yourself in a few years with an Aston!

Thanks guys.. I agree...

The RS6 costs my business £1000 per month (finance, tax, fuel and insurance).. that £1000 will more than cover the repayments on the loan for the business (albiet over a longer period)..

and add to that that I'm only 32 and I have a lot of driving ahead of me.. One day I might just be able to afford that 911 Turbo

Thanks
Dave

Dave,

For different reasons, I can well relate to your question.

There's little doubt that a car, not to say a brand new high-end one, is the worst investment anyone can do.
The longer you own it, the more you spend and the more it depreciates : it's an absolute loser's game from a pure financial perspective. You keep destroying value.

I guess it all depends where you stand in the course of life and whether increasing your net wealth for you and the future of of your family is required

Btw, once you're richer, go for a second-hand super-car with one-two years age. You'll make over 30% of immediate savings, which will generate additional revenues on their own if you place them in risk-free deal "a la treasury bonds" (whatever the equivalent is in your country).

Eric
PS : OK, I've been a bit harsh. Computers are even worst investments

Lose the car Dave. There will be plenty more where that came from, whenever you are ready to buy again.

Opportunities to protect and enhance the future for you and your family do not come by ofter. Most people never see one.

Just my 2p.

Cheers Dave,

Thankfully I agree.. it is my pride & joy, but oppertunities like this don't come along very often.. who knows.. I may be able to get another RS6 on day if I so wish.

I will be very sad to see it go, but when needs must...
