2.) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252187155077? ... EBIDX%3AIT (discs only)
As a third option KwikFit have quoted £740 (inc vat) to supply and fit a pair of front Zimmerman drilled discs and Brembo pads. Wouldn't normally use a fitter but the guys at my local KF do really look after my car so I'm happy to use them for some jobs.
Or, I might ask if they're prepared to fit if I supply...

Re: Front discs & pads
There is a thread about what pads are any good and what aren't a page back or so . I belive although pagid pads are oe the compound is different to the stealer bought pads . Brembo didn't get a particularly good rep either . I think they overwhelming consensus was ferrado or stealer oe . Although someone will probably be along to confirm or correct shortly.

ECP are cheaper at £235 each but they're out of stock http://www.eurocarparts.com/brake-disc

Update: the eBay link above can also be found on the TSR website: http://www.tsr-performance.com/webshop/ ... -tsrrs6pk/ and looks by far the best option imho..

I've ordered the second link, they are seriously <beep> me around with shipping them, I'll uUpdate this when they arrive!
The first link I'm dubious whether they are actual OEM pads, not the cheap pagid ones. When I messaged him, he didn't even know OEMs were pagid RS

Re: Front discs & pads
Ah, OK - looks like the eBay.de option is the way to go then. They also sell Brembo pads although which of the two below should I go for?
1.) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BREMBO-Brake- ... 2319035641
2.) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brembo-Brake- ... 2207128634
Oddly enough, the cheaper ones appear to be slightly thicker (17.7mm v 16.7mm) although the more expensive ones have a wear sensor. Does that really matter?

Re: Front discs & pads
I don't think they'll be any better than the Textar / ECP. Either OE or Branded performance pad like Pagid RS or Ferodo DS2500.
Or if you want cheaper pads then might as well just get the ECP ones.

Re: Front discs & pads
Yeah, not looking for DS2500s etc. and the standard pads have been fine. ECP are doing Brembo/Textar for around the £65 mark so might as well get them and the discs from Germany.Shoppinit wrote:

And KwikFit will only fit parts they supply for 'insurance reasons', which translates to helping empty your wallet. Will ask my Audi Master Tech to sort it privately..

Front discs & pads
I've decided I'm going for DS2500s (after much deliberation!)
I've got brembos on there at the moment, and I hate them. I'm not a hard driver, but there's a few stretches of dual carriageways with roundabouts near me (actually you know the ones, going from Tesco Rainham towards the M2) and I can normally have brake fade by the third roundabout, and that's not really trying.
The discs are well and truly shagged though. It would be alright if they wasn't ordered a month ago....
Ordering braided lines and blue fancy fluid too

Re: Front discs & pads
I remember buying some Apec pads which were terrifying, nearly put me 6 feet under a couple of times. No point skimping on pads. Pagid RS/OEM/Ferrodo.
If your discs aren't below the min wear thickness you might be able to get them skimmed. It's always a good option if you need new pads but discs aren't quite done yet.

Mine have started juddering when braking from 60-70 so it's time to replace them.Jay_g wrote:The discs are well and truly shagged though. It would be alright if they wasn't ordered a month ago....

Re: Front discs & pads
Thought about skimming them but they've been on the car for 5 years now and covered 40k (receipt from Newcastle Audi which also included a replacement caliper) so I'm happy to have them replaced.SuprSi wrote: If your discs aren't below the min wear thickness you might be able to get them skimmed. As mentioned above they also judder when braking from 60-ish, plus I'm getting an unusual grumbling noise just before the car comes to a stop (or if creeping along in traffic and braking to a stop) which might be a sticking caliper. My mechanic is going to service the calipers at the same time as changing the discs/pads. Considering I only do around 3k miles a year they'll probably never need changing again!
