So the last two times I have taken the car out I have noticed a new noise. It's a thump thump thump at low speed. It thumps faster the quicker you go but seems to disappear (or I can't hear it at higher speeds) The brakes were slightly corroded when I first moved off and they did the kerchung noise as the car had been sat for about 5 days between uses. I don't notice the noise after I've used the car for a bit and braked a few times. When returning home I trundle along slowly and I can't hear it. On the way out it's a definite noise.

Is it likely just to be the brakes having corroded on a bit? Or is it possibly something more significant like a wheel bearing, drive shaft or CV on the way out?

Sounds like your brakes need a good workout. Do several hard stops to get some temperature in them, or go for a brisk drive on a curvy road.

Could be deformed tyres. I get this sometimes when I move a car that hasn't been driven for a while. It goes away after about 5 miles or so when the tyres warm up and go round again. Of course, tyre deformation can also be a permanent thing. I've had this also and was convinced it was a wheel bearing. Changing the tyres sorted it.

I'd expect the thumpy tyre thing to happen after months of being sat rather than just a few days. They're 6 months old so I'd expect them to be perfect still. Will have to have a look all round though as it is a concern if one has developed some kind of weirdness, especially with old knobbly being a potential issue.

Well I emptied the boot of hookers and scraped the migrants off the propshaft and the noise is definitely still there. It's there when I've done a few miles and braked a few times. It's a gentle knocking, particularly noticeable at lower speed especially when lifting off coming to a stop. It seems slightly worse on rough surfaces. There is also a slight 'shimmer' at about 60 which someone else mentioned as turning out to be a CV joint.

Is it probably a CV joint? Is it worth doing both fronts at the same time? I'm reasonably certain it's the driver's side that is the issue. Driver's side wheel isn't hot so I don't think it is a binding brake of any kind.

Have you jacked the wheels up and spun them manually to hear the reproduced sound?
That would be my first port of call!!!! But then... i have been known to be a bit of a numptee!!!!! LoL
I have a UrS6 which somehow corroded the pads onto the (inside facing) disc! I didn't realise this until i started driving. It behaved the same way (or at least distinctly similar) to what you describe!.
I did the above and found it when i ran my finger on the dark side of the disc! A quick skim and she was all sorted!
worth a try???!

I'll check the inside of the disc. I also found a large stone in the tyre tread and removed that so it could just be that.
