Hydrolic engine mount

Post by geordieRS6 » Wed Oct 14, 2015 1:01 pm

Ok, so having just got the f125 switch repaired ( under RAC Warranty, result. Couldnt fault them, no arguements ) I now have another fault which I have been reliably told, is the hydrolic engine mount. How bad is this? I heard its not a terrible job to diy, but some reassurance, guidence would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Geordie

Taken from the Intro thread -

The fault code is this - Code 17981 Left Engine Mount Solenoid Valve ( N144 ) Open Circuit P1573 Signal/No Communication.

I binned the hydraulic mounts, in favour of the 034 motorsport solid ones. The street grade mounts give a slightly more solid feel than the OEM Audi ones, but are perfectly acceptable in terms of vibration.

Not too bad a job on a ramp, but folk have done this on the deck too I think.

Well, considering you have to work around that engine mount to get at the F125 I'd say they broke the connector when doing it.

/I'm assuming you've checked to make sure it's not simply unplugged.

Yeah, but complicated by the fault codes deleting them will generate, assuming you can't modify your ECU program. I remember hearing about a widget to fool the ECU that the mount was OK, but I haven't heard anything about that for a very long time. If it indeed ever existed.

Yep, those sensor fakers do exist and are just a meaty resistor so the ECU can read some load on the outputs. 034 can supply them with the mounts and have the correct harness connector too for a few $$$

Or you flip a bit in the ECU and it doesn't look for them!

Shop - The RAC haven't started the F125 yet, he had both codes together as per his thread in Intro's.

Then why don't the RAC do both at the same time?

The code for the hydrolic fault was picked up when reading the fault for the f125, so the garage didnt break it, but, didnt wanna push me luck with the warranty. You know what most of them r like!! Now I have more faith in the RAC one, I might give it a punt with them. I will look at the connector though! Obvious. Sorry, this is my first RS6 and first time on any forum. Still finding my way, as it were.
Much appreciate all the comnents though. Very useful.
I wiil let uz know.

Cheers

One of the jobs I've not had to do with the engine in. What's involved? I assume it's lock carrier into service position so you can release the tie bar, plus exhaust disconnected?
