Random engine check lights

My new RS6 (I only got it last week so its new to me), has a weird habit of putting the emission control warning light and/or the engine management light when you first switch on :boohoo: . If you then press the test button twice to run a test on the car's systems, you get OK come up. It doesn't do it all of the time, just occasionally. It has also displayed the red brake warning symbol but then if I follow this up with the test button, the car is fine.

I've also hooked it up to an OBD tester which reports no logged fault codes and the car seems happy enough.

Has anyone else come across this? I'm convinced there is nothing wrong with the car but its just weird. It doesn't go into limp mode or anything.

Cheers

Welcome and FON, don't worry about the brake warning it's quite common on some cars, mine dosen't do it though. What did you scan it with? Ideally you need to use VCDS as some generic readers don't pick everything up.

The brake warning is possibly due to low battery voltage. I had this a couple of times years ago but only if I put the car into drive very quickly after starting it. Wait a few seconds to let the battery voltage pick up and all is fine.

I'm happy to say that there has been no recurrence of this recently, so fingers crossed all is now well with The Beast.

Cheers for all replies.

Make sure to use Ross-Tech so you can see all codes and log full data. It will be very handy...
