Bilstein B14 fitted!

Well the lovely drc started playing up within a few weeks of getting my rs6! So started looking into replacement set ups and after a drive in a b7 rs4 with kw v3's and a b6 s4 on bilstein b14 I decided for what I needed the b16 pss9 would be a bit overkill!

So ordered a b14 kit through a friend and new top arms for the front as the bushes where looking a tad worn!

I can honestly say even working drc isn't as good as the b14 kit so I can only imagine the b16 is even more impressive!

All fitted with new top arms in!

After playing about for a few hours with the ride height and it settling a bit I decided I was happy with this height, but now thinking maybe another 15mm higher and it will be perfect. But spacers are a must so going to get these ordered asap!

For the value for money the b14 kit provides I can't complain one bit! Happy is an understatement.

looks good and it will be far better in terms of reliability on long term, however, a working DRC will always be better than any coil-over setup IMHO, have tried both and that's my conclusion, if only it was better made on the C5....a stiff suspension on C5 doesn't help that much as i think the chassis isn't up to it and you get all kind of rattles and squeaks in the cabin, so the DRC offered, for me at least, the best compromise out there.

Still looking into the best ones but will post up when I have ordered them! Think I will go with H&R and they come in at £65 for 2 then the price of bolts which are £2.50 a piece.

Yeh I agree the DRC is a very good system looking back I agree it is better and from spirited driving to cruising it does give a very smooth and effortless drive. And running coilovers does take away slightly from the whole point of am rs6 (big comfy missile haha) ! Will post soon with details of spacers

Looks great I wish I could have got my H&R's that high!

If you're still interested in selling the DRC springs please let me know.

This seems to be a common conclusion that's likely to keep my wallet haemorrhaging.

I've just received a set for mine. I'm having them fitted on Tuesday.
Any gotchas with the installation? It's coming off H&R coil-overs so I'm hoping it will be straightforward for the mechanic.

Yeh should be fine if they have already been swapped out, I replaced top mounts and the top arms while the suspension was apart. But it went very smooth and took 5 hours in total. And it is very easy to adjust the height which I had to do about 10 times haha! Hope all goes well with fitting!

+1 for Virdee.

Has anyone ever been able to compare the PSS8 and 9 back to back? I'd be curious to know if there's much difference.

Thanks for the advice marc1 I will give virdee a message and get a set ordered!

Yeh I would be interested to see back to back b14 and b16 kits! There must be someone that has upgraded to the pss9 coming from the b14 kit.
