Lumpy idle!!!

Not been here for quite a while guys. My apologies. I'm on a quest for info, switched the 6 on this week and could hear a hissing noise from the front of the engine bay. I'm thinking vacuum leak, car ran ok UNTIL it was on the drive, while I was cleaning it out and it started to run real lumpy. Won't rev and could only just limp it into the garage. Any common vacuum leaks form that area? Sound familiar to anyone. I've searched for any previous threads but couldn't get much. Any help is much appreciated as per usual.

had you cleaned the engine bay at all ( on the drive) before this happened ?

Thanks for the response,
I hadn't been in the engine bay really. I only lifted the bonnet to have a better listen. It sounded like it was coming from behind the radiator.

The diverter valves are at the front of the engine, and a vac leak here could well be the cause. Checking the small pipes under the carbon cover would be my first port of call.

That's a good point. Diverted valves seemed to be weeping but I don't think it was the source of the leak. I just hope I don't have to strip down the front of the car AGAIN!!!

jet suction pump, quite a big job for a small and cheap part, but that sounds to be your problem...it is located under the intake manifold.
