Goodbye and thank you!

Post by chrisn6 » Wed Aug 13, 2014 5:31 pm

Hi guys & girls,

Sadly, after almost 4 years of extremely enjoyable ownership, I decided to sell the RS6 and 'grow up' a little - I say a little, because I've just bought a 2006 S8! It's a fabulous machine, although not as agile as the RS6 of course. But that V10 engine sounds glorious, and there are so many nice toys to play with, hahah!

The RS6 was surprisingly cheap to run over the 4 years, with only some CV joints, crank sensor, window regulator, and a few other small things. However, I realised that it could become expensive very soon. With 110K miles, and an original gearbox, discs that would soon need replacing and an imminent major service with timing belt change, now was the time to make the move.

I'd like to thank the great people on this forum that helped me when I had those few problems. May your RS6s run smoothly for many years to come!

Cheers,

~Chris

Nice one Nobby! Yes, it's really nice being able to say that my car has a Lamborghini engine. Not sure about that exhaust though. The first S8 I drove had a Miltek, and it ruined the car IMHO. It was so damn noisy inside as well as out, it would have driven me mad!!

I love the fact that it's refined when you want it to be, but comes alive when you wanna have fun. At my age (52), that's what I want in a car. The alternative was a Maserati quattroporte, but the running costs on that make the S8 seem like a Prius!! I would have also really missed the 4WD which I got so used to with the RS6. The ability to put down the power so effortlessly in poor conditions is something I can't live without now, heheh. And while it would have been nice to say, "It has a Ferrari engine, you know", I think Lamborghini sounds even better! Oh, and I can pretend to be Jason Statham in The Transporter!
