Quarter mile times

Hi will be getting some drag times next month at York
After stage 2 remap at MRC
Was just wandering if people can post there times down on here
And with what mods they have
Am curious of what time to expect I'm guessing about 13.5 quarter at 125mph
Also do you have a good tip with getting off the line fast with the auto box? :audibash:

I'm sure there are ways of doing it better but I wouldn't want to ruin the box (i.e foot on the brake and throttle etc).

Be interested to know if there are any differences in D, S or manual mode.

Know what u mean with holding the brake on
Can't see the manual mode working well cause it changes up itself anyway

No difference in D vs S with WOT. Not sure about Tiptro, mines got 150PRM more but I'm not sure if that was achievable without being in Tiptro. You can easily fudge a short-shift close to redline after it shifts itself or too early. For a quarter run just stick it in S and mash the pedal. The best launch RPM (duck foot method) I found was 1500-1800RPM but that wasn't on a prepared surface. I'd imagine a drag strip would be pretty brutal on the 'box launching at higher RPMs.

I've done two runs in my Stage 1+ MRC mapped car. The first one was in "S" with EPS off and just mash the throttle and got 12.5sec @112mph. Second was in "S" with EPS off and left foot on the brake to raise the revs to 1800/2000rpm and got 12.19sec @ 111mph but thats the only time I've done left foot braking and I wouldn't do it again just to be kind to the gearbox.

Times below measured using 10hz GPS receiver (same as VBox) from our rally car's telemetry setup and Racechrono software (the most accurate version is Sybian only hence the old phone to rum it).

The second run got much better acceleration off the line but was slightly slower in the 40-80mph so 2nd to 3rd gear change was slower I'd say.

How accurate are those gps devices tho ?
You might of had a slight decline as it would be hard to find a road that's level?

They are very accurate, less than 100th of a second difference between one of these and a rull racelogic setup with 20hz GPS costing £15K+ according to testing done by Fifth Gear etc. The "road" (I work on an airfield and use a a bit of taxiway) was the same for both runs is has a slight incline towards the end and it isn't a proper "drag" prepared strip etc and as such my times mean *censored* all other than as a personal benchmark so I can see if any further upgrades make a difference when tested using the same kit, same road and same car.

As an aside, when I had by 450hp R34GTT (RWD) my best times at Santa Pod were all around 13.9sec @ 110mph as I couldn't get off the line without wheel spinning constantly (very bad technique). The difference AWD makes is quite impressive!

With a stage 2 you should be running around 530hp I think so the times & speed won't be greatly different as it's "only" 30hp difference *however* on a proper drag strip with better grip and timing devices etc you should get a more accurate idea of what your car is capable of. My guess would be around 12-12.5sec @ 112mph-118mph depending on how you launch.

Does MRC not offer a launch control mod?
I had one on my SuperV8 and it was the absolute nuts!
Was quicker than most manual cars of the same ilk!!!

Have fun out there. Remember to shallow stage. It can change your time by 0.2-0.3 seconds. Also, don't worry about reaction time...lots of people think it matters. It doesn't unless you're bracket racing.
